Green Day and Blink 182 both have strong cases as to being the most influential band to today's pop punk scene.
I'm asking who do you think is more influential out of the two.
Don't give me that shit about how without Green Day there is no Blink, because that is a given.
But that's not the question here. I'm interested to see how this one goes.

I think it depends on how old you are. I've noticed if you are about 21 and older it's Green Day, if your 21 or younger it's Blink.

I picked Blink because I feel like more of the upcoming bands are inspired by them. And I'm under 21 as well and Blink helped me to start and listen to the music I do now.

Part of Blink's success came from Green Day's, though. This shouldn't even be a poll.

Why isn't My Chemical Romance on this poll.
This is gay.

I'm 18 but I still voted Green Day...I dunno...if you trace it back, Green Day brought pop-punk to the mainstream (and don't give shit about the descendants cause ya, they were pop punk but they were still pretty underground during their time)

I've never really been a Green Day fan. I pick Blink.

hmmm, this is a really tough one for me. I heard Green Day and The Offspring around the same time, and both of them were hugely inspiring for me, and Dookie was the first CD I ever bought. However, when I saw the video for "What's My Age Again?" on MTV, I was totally blown away. So I dunno, I'd probably have to go with Green Day. For the record, I'm under 21

ya I mean...Green Day got me into rock but I mostly listened to em cause of my brother...but "Dude Ranch" was the first album I ever bought and I've listened to that more than any other album combined.

I have to agree with this, good point. One of the first bands I liked was green day though.

What about me? I am 21. So I can fit into both categories? 21 and up pick GD, 21 and down pick Blink, so I am in both...........most def Green Day.

It's a tough call... Personally, Green Day was my first "favorite" band, but it was Blink who got me into other pop-punk bands (FenixTX, MxPx, NOFX, etc.).

yep. this poll doesnt work because of that. its too big a generation gap. green day influenced things like Blink....and what we hear today derives alot from blink....etc
I'm 18 but I still voted Green Day...I dunno...if you trace it back, Green Day brought pop-punk to the mainstream (and don't give shit about the descendants cause ya, they were pop punk but they were still pretty underground during their time)
Yeah...im 20, and I got into green day just after they blew up...95-96. its been so long....its crazy
Umm Blink. They are one of the bands that got me into the music that i listen to now

And there is a lot to be said about a band that can hang around as long as Green Day has and still make popular music.

i'm going to have to go with green day. i'm pretty confident in the fact that when i heard Dookie, it made me want to listen to this type of music more and more.

though if you look at the bigger bands in the today's pop punk scene...you have simple plan, Mest, NFG, Good Charlotte...all bands that sing mostly about girls and worry about looks...2 things green day never did too much.
honestly...green day is the biggest band in today's pop punk scene.

green day without a doubt, you cant ignore the fact that if not for green day thered be no blink, even for the sake of this poll, there is just too much of an influence.

The question isn't who influenced your musical tastes more... it's who influenced more bands in the "scene" today? So all who answered, "I'm under 21, so Blink" needs to revote.. Who do think has influenced more bands and the "scene" out of Greenday and Blink 182? I know this is what he meant, because we have talked about this before. Anyways, I went with Blink. I think they have made more of an impact on music and influenced alot more bands than Greenday.

For me it would be GreenDay. 2 of my first 3 CDs were from them. I wasn't much of a Blink fan, and only hvaea 1 or 2 of their CDs. Well, 2 if you count one that's burned.
Oh yea, but to answer the question, I put Blink, because it seems like everyone has them as an influence.

blink
i would have to go with blink, but mostly because they were pop-punk. Green Day came more off as punk than pop-punk. Blink got me into NFG and motion city and all those other great pop punk bands

i agree, and I picked Green Day
