Larry Jacobson, manager of Avenged Sevenfold (http://www.avengedsevenfold.com), has updated his World Audience Blog (http://www.worldaudience.com/blog) with an interesting article on the band's recent success on famed Los Angeles radio station, KROQ.

Everyone has his or her own opinions and that’s great. But why is it that when one person states their opinion a whole slew of people copy them?
This is a really great album from a band I wouldn’t have normally listened to. Instead of following the pack of sheep I decided to give City of Evil a listen and actually understood why is was getting so much positive press.
You all should really listen to the new album and create an opinion outside of others judgment.

The other thing I have noticed is how many people "hate" A7X and assume they will hate the new one, but haven't listened to the new album. This departure from their previous style had me annoyed initially. But the more I listen to the album, the more I love it.
And just out of curioisity Ottobar, how old are you? I have noticed most people who have been enjoying the newer album happen to have been alive when the whole 80's metal scene was the thing. I have yet to meet someone not in their 20's who likes this album...
Not judging, assuming, or hating on the younger kids, just curious...

I'm 20. I've met a lot of people my age that like their style. It's just with the whole lifestyle genre taking over it's hard for a lot of people to actively promote or admit how good the album is. In many instances style and judgment have overtaken personal opinion so it's tough for people to think outside the box. To be honest I fall into those trappings myself, but City Of Evil as an album that's too good to deny.

i like all their albums - i still think Second Heartbeat and IWSYT are their best songs. and Waking the Fallen their best album
The new album has that amazing (cant believe i am about to say this )"old school" vibe. And it has guitar solos and work that is second to none. Sure the lyrics are sometimes chessy. But they are supoosed to be.
This is my favorite album so far this year. This album really gets me pumped up. I really like the drum lead in to the breakdown in "Blind in Chains". And the blazing guitar rift in "Strength of the World" after the western-like movie score music. It's just destroy everything take no prisoners metal. Reminds me of the good old days when Metallica used to make great music.

I AGREE
LONG LIVE METAL \m/
The only reason I semi-agree with this now is because Warped Tour has become so cookie cutter-like that anything with out a melody, scream, breakdown, melody isn’t considered Warped-like. But, before this genre explosion Warped was a place to find bands outside the box. So in essence Warped Tour is the perfect place for them.
