Tides Of Man... Too much like Circa Survive?

I am a recent mega-fan of Tides Of Man, but everyone I show their music to thinks it sounds too much like Circa. Personally I am not huge on Circa. To me they have more of a Mars Volta, Dear Hunter, TSOAF vibe.

Circa Survive's pretty much my favorite band. I really don't think Tides of Man sounds like them. People are pretty much just generalizing about the higher range voice, but vocal wise i guess Tides of Man sounds more like The Mars Volta. But idk. The music obviously is nowhere near Mars Volta. They are still a pretty good band

I'm a relatively new tides fan but long time circa fan and i find that the tone Tilian hits is similar to Anthony Green but Tilian also sometimes reminds me of claudio sanchez. also sometimes when Tilian raises the note at the end of a word in a verse it reminds me of John Gourley of Portugal, the Man

i hate when bands are compared to circa because no one can sound as good as anthony but if tides is being compared to circa coheed and portugal them i guess i should check them out at least
