Can anyone reccomend some really good, REAL punk bands? Rockabilly, psychobilly, and ska will be great as well :) I like bands like Green Day, The Clash, The Ramones, Operation Ivy, Minor Threat, The Misfiits, AFI (primarily old stuff), Tiger Army, Bouncing Souls, Rise Against, Dropkick Murphys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Against Me!, Rancid, and virtually every band off of Hellcat Records.

However I hate Fall Out Boy and Tokio Hotel and all bands like them...
...so help me out here! No matter how obscure and unknown, introduce me!

Thanks!

Stop me if you've heard this before. Have you checked out the Give 'Em the Boot compilations?

The Ripcordz are one of my favourites. Propagandhi. Bad Brains. Smoke or Fire. Paint It Black. Flipper. The Flaming Tsunami's. Big D and the Kids Table, Catch 22, Link 80, The Arrogant Sons of Bitches, Reel Big Fish, The Horrorpops, The Creepshow, Nekromantix, Seven Shot Screamers, Flatfoot 56, The Flatliners, Guttermouth, Lars Fredriksen and the Bastards (... Which I'm actually probably going to assume you've heard before), Towers of London, I actually think the Mad Conductor is a terrible band, but I'll list them anyway, Mustard Plug, Against All Authority...

I'm listening to some French bands too, like Guerilla Poubelle and a couple of others.

My brother is into those kind of bands. You should try Anti-Flag and Leftover Crack.
I hate em, but you might like them.

I find Anti-flag's getting pretty bad now. I don't have Mobilize (nor do I think I've heard it), so I'm going to suggest pre-The Terror State. But there are rumours they're working on a new album that sounds more like their old stuff, which I'm kinda looking forward to.

But yes, Leftover Crack is a great band.

the fact that you needed to let us know fall out boy and tokio hotel aren't punk is a fail in my eyes...

anyway, not sure if this is what you're looking for but I'd check out The Swellers or Fallen From the Sky

punk isn't about the instruments played with an angry voice, its about the lyrics, the message, movement. rap CAN be punk, i dont consider punk a music genre, its a way of thinking (i wont say way of life cause then all "punks" would be robots like a lot are ex: all blue mohawks with leather or jean jackets, its ridiculous, its not a fashion) Public enemy (good punk rap group), immortal technique, Nas

im not a punk, i think when people want to be punk or are punk they limit themselves from liking certain things and listening to other music, i love ska, i listen to rap (no lil wayne shit, only old school stuff and the only new stuff i listen to is underground) i listen to old 70-80's rock.

i suggest people to watch the movie SLC Punk!

a lot of so called punks hate anyone who doesnt think like they do, which is rediculous too
. and all the studio punks (i stole that from Eazy-e's studio gangsta's) go out and by shirts and boots and dress alike because they think they are changing the world by wearing shirts that say "anarchy in the uk", well your not, your paying tax from that shirt (unless you steal your clothes, which is fine) and giving money to the government youre supposed to hate. and all the punks who complain about the media, but have no clue why they hate it? if you want to get a mohawk and wear leather jackets because thats how you want to dress thats fine, but if you do it because you think that it's "punk" then you got fucked by the media.

Not many people listen to them, but you might like Pendleton. I got ambushed by them at warped tour and bought the CD for 5$, and they're actually alright.

Bomb The Music Industry! definitely, check out their latest album Scrambles (all their stuff is available to download legally for free, just check out their Myspace page and you'll find links)

RX Bandits are a great band, ska/punk/progressive. They are seriously tight, and they have some great vocals on issues like politics and society, just really great music. They have a new album coming out this year but check out their albums ...And The Battle Begun and The Resignation

There is a band i'm really digging at the moment called Dr Manhattan, they are post-punk you should dig them.
