What are your favourites? I suppose they should be positive, but Seventy Times Seven by Brand New iis a pretty good example of an awesome song that is definitely NOT about the good side of friendship, especially when your friend fucks your life up. I think the ataris have a lot of songs about friendship... which is a good balance to the whining about not finding love.
Your take?

I wouldn't want to tell the team that... angry French men playing a sport with regular bloodshed would have to prove you wrong. Can't just let you insult Quebec like that...

Hilarious how the person who brought up stereotypes are exhibiting the typical american-loving, flag-waving, "freedom fries" mentality. And throw in the refusal to listen and comprehend too. Wow! Thank god I know individual americans so I'm glad you're not a representative of your whole population.

I can't think of anything quite as prominent, but a lot "serious" bands are singing about how their life sucks, or how their world is falling apart.

well in 2001 or 02 BN and TBS and even Senses Fail were popular in the almost popular music scene
they always had lame lyrics about suicide and murdering that never seemed like anyone had tried to make sense of them.
what do bands like Cute Is What We Aim For and other Fuse-pop bands of today (that to me took the spot of TBS BN and SF) write about?
what is the new cliche in lyrics?

You mean this Simple Plan? Because that's more hardcore or punk than anything, let alone friendship.
