what happens when neil finn, his two sons, two of the radiohead boys, the entire cast of wilco, johnny marr (you may remember him from the smiths?), astounding solo acts like bic runga, lisa germano, kt tunstall (well i'm not big on her), don mcglashan, & others get together to record & perform? 7 worlds collide!

here in new zealand (although i sadly missed it) these guys have been jamming together for the public's pleasure for 3 nights now & are allegedly recording an album (& no doubt another stunningly bizarre dvd) of mostly new material to release this year. all band members were asked to join the jam with news songs in mind, & with the likes of tim finn throwing his song writing abilities in the mix, i simply can't wait for the final product. does this have potential to be something incredible? i think you all know the answer here

from what i've gathered of the live shows, everyone has been respectfully covering each others songs from the vast finn songbook, the smiths classics, neil finn & jeff tweedy performing vocals on radiohead songs, radiohead's drummer phil singing his own haunting new piece, beautiful new songs being performed, giving the crowd a hint at what the album may bring. i would keep this in the finn brothers thread, but it's a little too exciting for everyone to not take an interest

no replies, really? did anyone read the line-up haha. i thought quite a few ap'ers would be feeling this project. i know i certainly can't wait to hear the album

also, one a side note: there's an unsubstantiated rumor is that wilco is staying in nz for another couple of weeks to work on their new album in neil's fantastic new roundhouse studios. another reason to be excited

WHAT? How did i miss this thread haha. That sounds fantastic, and i totally can't wait for an album, or imagine how incredible it would be. Does Youtube have live videos from the performances?

haha i don't know, perhaps i should of thought of a better thread title? either that or ap stopped caring about great artists making incredible music. not sure about youtube, cameras were a no-no in the venue, but i know they are planning to release a live dvd, as well as the originally planned album of new material. apparently the song phil from radiohead brought to the party is just incredible. last time this happened, eddie vedder also showed up. these guys come out of sheer respect for the finn brothers, who they are all big fans of, nothing else. told you those two boys are brilliant haha

apparently when tweedy from wilco was about to cover radiohead, he introduced it as "this is going to sound like paul rogers singing queen's songs" hahaha

This is apparently an old thread... Have there been any recent updates? I'd definitely check out this album.
