I don't know if this has been done before but if it has, feel free to post the link to the other thread.
Anyway, yeah, what are some of your favourite soccer players?
I've not really kept up with soccer in the last 3 years (yes I really need to start watching it again!) but.. I've always liked Zinedine Zidane, Alessandro Del Perio, Edgar Davids, Pavel Nedved... ummm..... damn I can't think of any others but I'm sure there's more. I'm biased though, I guess.. because the Italian league is the only one I've been following since I was little. I'd rarely watch the other ones... but yeah, have always seen the World and Europe Cup.

Maradona (the king of soccer)
Vieri (too bad your gone)
Toldo (Inter Milan Goalie)
Maldini (best defender of all time)
so those are my picks, two for forwards/midfields, one for goalie, and another for defence

Hmm...Id have to disagree with that...either Buffon from Juve or, suprisingly, Tim Howard...he's a local favorite, went to the high school here

Hmm, way too many really. Ronaldinho, Arjen Robben, Alan Smith (being a Leeds fan, I still have a liking to him, even though he joined Scum), Thierry Henry, etc.

Joe Max Moore. He's my inspiration.
And that guy who plays for Holland, who has to wear the cool orange glasses all the time. He's fucking incredible. I have a video of him...does things I've never seen anyone do.

Even though I play soccer and have been for 16 years, I barely ever watch it so I don't have any favorites. :)

yes, yes he is
he is quite clearly one of the worst keepers in the premiership atm, which is why Man U are after a new 1

Before Man U. he was in the MLS with the MetroStars, where he was insanely good, since he went there though, he got worse

I've always loved Totti.
I've also had a liking for Ibrahimovic, Saviola, Aimar, and van der Vaart.

yea, but you can't say a player that was good is good - just like Ronaldo isn't good, he was good

his skill hasnt changed, the difference is he plays against great players now in the epl compared to those who play in the mls

Ibrahimovic is insane. Did you see the goal he scored in Euro 2004 when he let the ball float over his head and backheal it in the air for a goal? It was insane. I think it was against Denmark.

And the media is differernt in England than it is in the US. Maybe due to all the criticism about his performances is getting the better him or Sir Alex Ferguson choosing Roy Carroll over him time and time again even when Carroll made terrible blunders yet still had the 1st spot. Alot of things can be disputed upon why after his first season where he was named EPL Best Goalkeeper to terrible second season.

agreed, and a good point, however remember that howard hasnt played nearly as many games as he expected to at Man U before they began to judge him...i say give him time...
but for a squad like Man U, its really tough to keep....yeah, on second thought, it might be a good move to drop him..come back to the US Timmy!!!
