I've posted Kerrang's review of the new Rufio (http://www.rufiomusic.com) album in the replies. It's a good read, and a good album.

"the dude that didn't read the article but got caught up on the title" award goes to you.

agreed...not to start that line of arguements again, but rufio is a good band (i'll give them that), simply not the shape of punk to come. let's be realistic guys.

we can't read the article...the resolution is too low and its blury

"the dude that didn't read the article but got caught up on the title" award goes to you.i read the article, but it's important that you see that the title was pretty bold. the shape of punk to come? really? to head an article with a title from one of the best punk records ever is pretty ambitious

rufio is no doubt a great band...but i think those who were there from the initial buzz of the band hoped for something better for them than this new record

The album is better than 1985 but not up to Perhaps, I Suppose. Still a good album, but hopefully on their next album the change things up a bit and try something different. Even faster whould be my wish.

Decent album, but Kerrang know absolute shit.

shape of "POP" punk to come would be a more suited title. But it's no different then Rufios previous releases in my opinion. fast up beat drumming with fast riffs. Production values are better but thats all I see in this release. Kerrangs just saying Rufio is the new "punk" because they're not watered down like Bowling For Soup or New Found Glory.

"Bowling for Soup when they were still exciting?"

anyone remember this? Cuz I don't....

Personally, I think the songs on this Rufio record are pretty different from the other records. There's a lot more melodic movement and the chord changes and riffs are smarter. Also there's a lot more cool sounds other than basic distorted guitar, bass, and drums.

Yeah, but then again, your run-of-the-mill person isn't really gonna notice these type of things and respect them as such because of them.

to title this review, "the shape of punk to come" makes little literary sense. it makes an allusion to the refused album, but does not mention, or relate this RUFiO album to it at all. and even ignoring the fact that it was the name of an album, the review only looked at the past of what they felt american pop punk bands were like, not what they think, or what could be the future of punk. they compare RUFiO to the past, but not to the future.
regardless of how this RUFiO album is, they are simply continuing to do what they have been doing since perhaps, i suppose, playing solid, catchy, guitar laden, pop punk. they may have improved their musicianship, and gotten better producers, but they are not the shape of punk to come. holla.

All of you are really ignorant to not see this as a big release. Rufio has not only progressed musically themselves but made a stance on how bad the scene sucks these days. If it wasn't for all this hardcore bullshit, 'the comfort of home' is how bands should have sounded if they continued evolving. This album right here is exactly what pop punk should have turned into.

What does hardcore music have for it besides the technicality? It sure as hell isn't catchy or easy on the ears. Seriously... "A Simple Line' sums everything up best about music these days. Hopefully more bands will follow suit and start getting more creative like rufio has.

Defenetly one of the best albums to come out in a while if you ask me. But hey, I grew up on pop-punk, so maybe it's just me. Regardless, everyone should pick this album up if they want some good music for the summer.

That was actully a decent review for Kerrang, me and my buddy were reading it in W.H.Smiths (http://www.whsmiths.co.uk/) yesterday. Beleve me for Kerrang to give a non-metal album a good score is a triumph in itself.
