I was very very very dissapointed. I loved their last album, and I really did like the coutntry feel, but for me they took it too far. It's just too country and I cannot get into it. I really really wanted to like it too but oh well.

I'm a big big Limbeck fan, and I loved their first CD - this one is going to be just as amazing.

I've hated country with a passion...but right now, listening to these songs, I'm gonna have to reevaluate my tastes. This album kicks too much ass to be hated due to a general genre.

I love it. And thanks to Limbeck's first album, I love alt country.

i'm gonna wait till its actually out to go buy it.

as for alt country, i like it because what i hate about country is the voice, not the music. with bands such as limbeck and the format the music is the "country" part and the vocals are still "alt"

Okay, I've loved Limbeck forever and understand why people say they're country- but they really aren't... atleast in my opinion they are much more folk/singer songwriter. Their songs remind me much more of The Byrds and CSN then Travis Tritt and Alan Jackson... but that's just me

This is such good music. As for the whole country thing, all that shit that they play on the country music radio stations isn't country. It's southern pop music. The lyrics are bland and the voices get annoying. This on the other hand could easily pass for country music and i like it a whole lot.

yeah i love those two vocalists, when they started trying to encorporate a 'twang' in their voices is when i would stop listening to their records.
"i hate rap and country" blah blah blah just like everyone else. but i love my exceptions.

living in indiana for the past 8 years of my life, i had come to hate country music with a passion. artists such as travis tritt, toby keith, etc. are just really dumb people who write songs with lyrics like "and you’ll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A. 'cause we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the american way" that just scream "i am ignorant!" not to mention their music is terrible and literally all of it sounds exactly the same. modern popular country music is such a specialized genre that it seems like all of it is made by the same 5 or 6 people.
but, i have limbeck to thank for putting out "hi, everything's great" and making me realize there was more to country music than rednecks and untalented musicians. thanks to them, i gave great bands like lucero, the format, and the weakerthans (well, some of their stuff is alt-country) a chance and ended up loving them all.
these three songs sound pretty good, but i hope the rest of the record is better.

lucero is better

I would have to agree, though I do like Limbeck as well.

And I don't understand why everyone is categorizing The Format into country. Though it is basically opinion, I would just consider them to be Pop/Rock. Either way, it's damn catchy music.

i honestly couldn't have said it better myself.... i think people who just say "i hate country" are still caught up in the 3rd grade mindset.... where the only real thing anyone tends to know about musical tastes regarding genres is the generally accepted notion that country, indeed, "sucks."

Its REALLY not all that different to many, many of the bands we all listen to and love.... but the ONE thing that a large majority of country music has that always turns me off, is the voice.... i just don't get it.... i always think "wow, this is a great song.... why can't we get like a Jason Vena in there or something...."

As for the new LImbeck cd, "Everyones in the Parkinglot" (or what it is called in the drinking game mix rotation-- "The Parkinglot song") Is an instant classic, and Usually Diluted is awesome... the chorus is just perfect.... the whole cd in general is great and ALWAYS gets me in a good mood.

Sin City's also notable too in my opinion.

Good music doesn't need to be lyrically complex, or technically revolutionary.... it just needs to make you feel good...... you know..... 'vibe' to it.

first off---- COUNTLESS people write off the indie rock/punk genre for "all sounding the same" and "being wrote by hthe same 5 or 6 people"..... by making the same remarks against another genre you only make youself sound ignorant.... even moreso when you label the entire other genre as such.

I'll bet you don't go to absolutecountry.net every day.... so i'll be you only know what you see on tv and hear on the radio

what if everyone judged our genre by Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, etc etc etc.

Infact, outside your comfortable bubble here on absolutePUNK, most of the world DOES judge the genre by those bands.... its why the rock station in milwaukee REFUSED to play any Fall Out Boy last summer....they judge our music as teenybopper bubblegum music, its the sad truth (only thing is, we get a few wins every now and then with My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Relient K, imho).

i didn't say all of country, i said "modern popular country," which basically was supposed to mean the music played on country radio stations. i recognize that the genre as a whole is much more diverse than the crap they play country radio. in fact, i don't even like most of the rock, punk, or indie music played on the radio. the point of my post was to say "i used to judge the entire genre based on what is played on the radio, but bands like limbeck made me realize there is much more to it" so your post was more in agreement with mine than disagreement.
seriously, though, listen to country radio, it really does all sound the same.

'the best thing about [the war in iraq] is that it, um, ... gives me an opportunity to hear all the country western music ive been missing, ya know. seriously, cause i dont listen to shitty music... i dont go see shitty movies. i dont watch shitty tv shows. im fuckin stupid. that way.'

Ahem...I love Limbeck and can't wait till I finally get to see them live. I was going to go to see them this past December but didn't have anyone to go with. I love listening to Hi, Everything's Great. I don't really listen to anyone else like them. Their brand of alt-country does it for me. They jam out like the end of that awesome Georgia Satellites song "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" (early 90's country song song). I did see Lucero at Bamboozle and enjoyed them so I might have to check them out some more.

Limbeck is my favorite band ever. They've never failed to put a smile on my face (ok once, but that was a BAD day) just by listening to one song.

I finally got "Let Me Come Home" on Monday, and I haven't stopped listening to it! I agree that it is different - more country. But it's also more mature (not that Hey/Hi wasn't mature) than their previous albums.

I love every song on the disc, and I think there's more variety in the songs this time around. Watching the Moon Rise (I think that's what it's called) I think really shows the influence of the Old 97's.

Everyone buy this (it comes out August 9th). These guys deserve it so much. And go see them live if you can. I'm real bummed on the fact that their Portland show in August is 21+, but I'll be in Seattle and outside Berbati's the next night for sure!
