View Full Version : The Unborn = One of the Worst Movies Ever

Anybody going to see The Unborn should definitely not go into it with the mindset of a serious horror movie. This piece of shit is amusing as hell... but only because it's so terrible.

I hardly believe it's any worse than the slew of shit horror movies that come out on a regular basis.

I don't know, it's pretty terrible. I think it's worse, but that's probably just cause I had high expectations for it.

I'm going to throw a big fat "why" out there. How is anything shown from the trailers different, or more scary, interesting, etc. than any third rate horror movie that's come out in the past 10 years?

*laughs* I don't know, something about it just looked really cool. At least it was scary looking. That creepy old guy that contorted really freaked me out a lot. *haha*

I'm assuming you meant to throw a "fuck" or a "do" in there somewhere. Yeah, she's pretty cute. Wasn't she in Transformers?

Cloverfield IIRC. Glad to hear American horror continues to disappoint.

I guess she was, but not as anybody big, so I doubt I'm thinking of the same girl in both movies.

And somehow that made Bay think she was good enough to carry an entire movie...
Boy was he wrong. Not only was the dialogue horrible, but the delivery was shiteous on all accounts. The only one who made it semi-bearable was Gary Oldman. And even he was strugglin'.

It's weird that Goyer has been involved in a lot of things that I love, but then he makes a piece of crap like this. And it's sad that Oldman is in this, he should be getting any role he wants.

I really wish they'd make something original. I miss those creepy 70's flicks that just get under your skin for days and days. I am a huge horror movie fanatic and am highly disapointed in the movies they are making these days ie the grudge movies, pulse, mirrors, ect. They are concentrating on a more younger crowd to make more money. Horror movies are not suppose to be for 13 year olds. They need to stop watering down these movies, and make them more real, original, and down right creepy.

Spot on, even if someone does make an "R" rated horror movie they end up turning it into an almost comical gore-fest.
Damn that reminds me that I have had the Japanese version of Pulse tivoed for like a month now.

I dont give a fck about REC....i dont CARE that there's a movie similar to it....
Quarantine was a GOOD fucking movie. One of the first "horror" films in a long time to actually get me on the edge of my seat and ACTUALLY had me scared at a few parts. I havent been scared since I was like 7, and i Jurassic Park.
I will give this poster some credit though, I too had "small" expectations for this film (The Unborn). There were a few clips from the trailer that actually looked kinda scary, so I'm dissapointed to hear it was that bad. There are still a handfull of movies I need to see before I check this shit out...
Bloody Valentine 3D, im in for that.

Movies you own: 28 Days Later, The Passion, Shaun of the Dead, Starship Troopers.
So congrats, you own 2 of the most universally praised horror movies of the decade. Sounds like you just spend most of your time looking for shitty music/movies. If you put 10 % of that effort into horror movies, you'd find that there are plenty of good ones out there. But don't say you haven't found a good one in 15 years like you're a genre expert.

I'm pretty unhappy with the current state of modern horror but I'm still able to find plenty of good ones. I just saw Let the Right One In, which is possibly the best vampire movie ever. You just have to look hard sometimes.

Similar? It was a scene for scene copy; minus the suspense, realism, horror, and entertainment value of the original. If you enjoyed that awful quarantine remake [rec] would blow your mind.

I mean you do realize that its not as if they didnt mention or give homage (omage? omaj? damnit) to REC. And im' sorry I just feel that a lot of people's view on this film is skewed because they feel they have to hate on it since it's "ripping off" REC. Perhaps its the Mest effect. Since I heard Mest first out of the entire slew of pop punk bands out there...I actually like them, and find them really enjoyable, but I hate most other pop punk out there. It's probably because I heard them first, so to me they were different. Quarantine is probably the same way...although I heard the hundreds of people complaining that it was simliar to REC, i never saw REC so to me quarantine was pretty awesome.
I WILL check out REC..and ill get back atcha.

I'm not really apart of that crowd. Yes I dislike the idea of remakes (mostly because I feel they're unnecassary), but I don't fault a film outright for being one. There are good remakes, even remakes that one up their supposed 'copies'. Strangers is a good example, as was the shockingly good Dawn of the Dead remake.
Quarantine, however, was just a quicky no heart (or brains) remake. It was this summers "EYES". A movie that settles for being nothing more then a scene for scene copy of the original. But doesn't even try to recapture the heart, or intensity of the original, or more apt what made the original so worthy of being remade in the first place.
See 'em both though, I'd love to know your thoughts.

was very lame, just as i expected.
that bathroom scene with the glory hole was pretty funny. i dunno how they thought that was supposed to be scary. and i wouldn't really call it "one of the worst movies ever". just another bland, boring, predictable pg-13 horror movie.

The Strangers isn't a remake of Them, it's just that both movies share the same core plot.
If I remember correctly, it was written sometime before Them was made, but the later ended up getting made first while the Strangers sat on the shelf for a while.

Sorry, Justin, but the way you worded it made it sound like you meant that The Strangers is a remake of Them.

I was confused on why you decided to include it as an example during a remake discussion. The way I read it made it sound like you referring to the film as a remake even though you did say copies. Even though the simliarities are there and when talking about The Strangers (or Them), the other film will pop up in discussion, I wouldn't call either films copy of one another, but a rare occurance where one film is very close to another on the core.

That's fair, in all honesty it probably wasn't the best example.
I'm still not sold entirely that Strangers, while being a seperate script, doesn't owe its creation to Them. Had Them not been made or been a hit, there's no reason to assume Strangers' wouldhn't have continued to set on a dusty studio shelf. Some exec knew he had a similar property and knew it would be cheaper to produce then to secure the remake rights Them. So that is why we have a 'similar' film as opposed to a direct 'remake'.
Its from that frame of mind that I included both here, and why I add that bit about 'supposed copied' at the end to cover my ass.

I get you, and you are probably right about how The Strangers was picked up thanks to the success of Them.
