New record is weak. I never thought they were anything special although I've liked songs here and there. Decided to give Parrot a chance and I'm sorry I did.

Maybe I'm not properly schooled in parrots, but I found it funny how the bird on the cover doesn't appear to be one. Kind of reminded me of Mogwai's most recent record and how there's an eagle on the cover instead of the titular bird, although someone informed that an eagle is a kind of hawk?

I thought it was cool because he had the feel of El Cielo with the "Stamp Of Origins" kind of like "Brushstrokes" but it had it's own sound to it. Wasn't sure at first, but the album really grew on me.

I wouldn't mind that. Sometimes a band reaches their best on their first album, their last album, or somewhere in between. Makes no difference to me. I don't really compare albums, I just love listening to all their music.

If so, this album is for you. If not, stick with pariah or arms because this vaguely resembles those albums. If it wasn't for the somewhat odd song structure or harmony, this could be any band.

If you were a fan of the the drumming on previous albums, this album might bother you a bit. Its vastly different and is a series of syncopated rhythms in each song that rarely changes pace. Think of a dance club beat....

start with catch without arms, its the most accessible. El cielo is pretty good as well but a little more experimental. I really like their last which was the pariah, the parrot the delusion. My list goes PPD, CWA, chuckl squeezy, el cielo. Although " The camyon behind her" on el cielo is definitely one of thier best songs ever. Bug eyes from catch without arms is one of my all time fav songs. I loved "Information" ,"Pariah", "I don't know" , "Mourning this morning", and "down to the cellar" from PPD Oh and I know they had Leimotiv or whatev but im not super familiar with it. I was their first and kinda different sound some people love it thho.
