View Full Version : First Saves the Day Studio Update
Frank Giaramita

Saves The Day (http://www.savestheday.com) started pre-production yesterday at Electric Lady Bug studio. The guys are working with Steve Evetts, who produced their first two albums, Can't Slow Down and Through Being Cool. 18 new songs are currently being worked on, 14 of which will be on their new album. Some tentative working titles for the songs are "Head For The Hills", "Sound The Alarm", "Diseased", and "Eulogy". Be sure to check out the band's official website this summer for an all new look and much more new content, including video clips of them working in the studio, album recommendations, live web chats, studio journals, and more.
The songs are short and fast and angry and hopefully will make you want to tear your ears off your head.---Chris, STD

The only reason i'm skeptical of this is even if they are fast and angry, in what style is he going to be singing them? Even when they have recently been playing stuff off of TBC, he's still been singing them like a hippie...I hope this is good

Chris' voice is amazing no matter how he sings it so I don't care haha. He'll probably sing more angrier cause he's the one who keeps bringing up how angry it is.
It's funny I'm listening to In Reverie now.

dude, you should really build a time machine out of a microwave and a duck like in southpark. that way you can hear std, bring timmy back from jurrasic times, and ask the producer of star trek how many episodes there really were (unless, of course, ms chokes on dick asks you to present your balls and you freeze up and forget to get through the porthole).

I love saves the day, and when he says the songs are going to be short, I hope that doesnt mean too short. I dont want an album of 14 songs that are like under 2 mins long. This is my only fear at this time.

could someone PLEASE explain why you think that album sucks? really. Did you want them to stay the way they were forever?(Don't give me "Stay what you are" I know you're thinking that!)

I like-to-love STD's three other full-lengths, the EP and B-sides comp, but I think Chris just sounds utterly lifeless on the record. It doesn't sound like he's singing with emotion, and the mildly violent imagery he was so well at conveying was lost. Not to mention they relied on mostly bland geek rock chord progressions.

'in reverie' is incredibly underrated. chris took a stab at something new, and some of those songs are the best he's ever written. 'tomorrow too late' is absolugtly amazing. 'through being cool' and 'stay what you are' are his best i think, but i really think its cool that he didn't jsut write SWYA part 2 for the major label...

basically, it boils down to this. for a lot of us, "through being cool" probably serves as the soundtrack to their highschool years. it's on the top 5 favorite record list of a hell of a lot of kids.
when was last time you heard somebody talk about in reverie that way?

yes. in reverie sounds very drug induced. and not some cool kind of drug either. it sounds like chris was on way too much lithium or something.
i'm all for being experimental, but i'm very anti "making shitty music when you're capable of so much better." i've got the feeling that if chris spit on blank cds and then offered them up for sale some of you would eat that shit up just because it's saves the day. and then you'd get mad at me for not being open minded enough to appreciate the new saves the day "spit" sound.

in reverie just wasn't good. the direction they started to go wasnt awful, some songs were good. but overall, by trying to do something new, so many songs just didn't flow and had no melody whatsoever. i tried to like the album but it just wasn't possible.

saves the day + steve evetts = sonic gold. I'm so excited for this...holy craps.
this made me turn on the ipod and just listen...
i hope the record is ambitious and not just a repeat.
there are tons of other bands that have TRIED to release another through being cool. I hope saves the day do not retrace their footsteps and fall short. I hope they aren't trying to relive the glory days.
i am so excited nonetheless. Any word on eben? i hope he's still in the band.

The thought of them going back to their roots sounds awesome. I'm sure its going to be great. I did like the last cd, just not as much as the the other ones. You just can't go wrong with Steve Evetts.
probably the best news of the month.

Hey according to their myspace the record isnt coming out until January...and they say "hopefully"... Wow this is like putting stones in my heart, and by that I mean not good. Oh and they finally took Eben off of the band list on myspace...i guess this means its true, hes gone. Wow, more stones in my heart. I feel sick.
Hopefully they are both lies.

no matter what they sound like Saves The Day will always be my fave band! Chris Conely is a song writting genius, and no one can change that. What ever this cd sounds like it's a given that it'll satisfy at least my STD cravings!!! I like it that STD changes and plays with their sounds. Adds variety, and makes it more interesting to see what they'll come up with next.
