I dislike people who have nothing better to do than make comments about the appearance of others. Seriously, if someone is fat, you might not think they look good, but if they are comfortable wearing what they are wearing, what difference does it make to you? They aren't doing you any harm are they?

But I guess, if it bothers you, it's your perogative to have a moan about it, I just think there are more important things to worry about than wether someone has got the figure to carry off a cropped t-shirt or not

I guess it just bothers me a bit, that even people who would probably say that they are not predjudiced, and would not make comments that would be racist, sexist, homophobic, ageist or anything like that, would think it was totally acceptable to make fun of someone just for being overweight.

You know, a lot of these people probably feel shitty enough about themselves as it is, and don't need some smartass making comments.

Also with the eating thing, some people comfort eat. They get fat, they feel like crap, therefore they eat more and get fatter, it's a vicious circle. Overeating can be just as much of an eating disorder as anorexia or bullimia.

I agree about fat people moaning about the fact that they are discriminated against and can't get a job or whatever because they are fat, and that there is nothing that they can do about being fat. It's been proven that only 2% of obese people can't actually do anything about their weight, the other 98% need to get up off their fat asses and stop eating. And don't talk to me about making fun of minority groups, I'm in one myself so I wouldn't do it unless it was totally neccessary.

So, as you can see, yeah, I'm fat, and I have a sense of humour about it now, but I just remember how shitty I used to feel when people picked on me for it.

People still do think they have a right to make comments, but like I give a fuck what some schmuck in the street thinks about me. They usually ain't no oil paintings themselves.

A couple of facts though:

I don't eat MacDonalds, I used to eat a lot of junk food, which is why I put the weight on, not going to blame anyone else but me for that. But I eat healthy now. Have I lost any weight? Some, not much, but I'm not really that bothered. If people are shallow enough to think you're not worth talking to because of your looks, well, I don't want to know peple like that anyway.

I wear clothes that cover me up, cos dressing like a skank is horrid regardless of your size, as I said

You can't eat what you want for fear that people will make fun of you, you can't go shopping because everyone stares at you and thinks you shouldn't be allowed in public, and you can't go to the gym because you think all the "fit" people will stare and be disgusted.

So get a back bone, get your ass up and go workout or do something. I'm sorry, but I don't have tons of sympathy for severely overweight people. If it's something in their genes that made them that way, okay maybe...but if they made themselves that way, too bad for you.

it really sucks though because this disorder was created by mainstream pop culture and it sucks...places in southeast asia which never had problems like this now have to deal with it because of the skewed image of beauty...trust I know about having problems that most would think are asinine...but these probles could be avoided with better parenting...and kid's just learning to take a joke once in a while. Bulimia just pisses me off...not so much the people who face but why they have to face it.

why should you be sorry for someone else being fat????? it's not your fault at all...it is their choice to super size it...not yours...people like you should motivate others like "hey, look at her no tummy at all, I want that" ya know? I mean, the girl I currently like right now...she says I look "good" physically...but the few parts of my body where I'm somewhat lean and muscular she obsesses over...some people would get annoyed...I get motivated like hey...I can choose not to be fat...these people don't want to make that choice and all it shows is weak character.

I guess it just confuses me that a lot of people think overweight people are so disgusting and offensive, but you also think that bulimia and anorexia are bad as well. I'm not commending being overweight or either of those diseases, but it's hard when everyone thinks you should lose weight, but not do it in a drastic way. I don't think it's that difficult of a concept. I mean, it's pretty much become and thing where we as a society are starting to look down on those that are overweight AND are underweight. I mean, Hollywood is ridiculously underweight right now and people are taking notice of that. you're right...but in a way that kinda proves my point about what society has instilled on our minds...I'm not exception really...I mean, I have no problem with people being somewhat overweight at all, my ex was on the chunkier side of the spectrum and I thought she was damn sexy...but my point is that there's no reason to vomit your way to achieve that goal, there are much healthier means. and it's not so much hey you should look like that...it's almost, hey I wish I were that healthy...I mean I bet Kara will outlive all of us cause she's so top notch in shape...I had a teacher in HS...she's like almost fifty but doesn't look a day over thirty...she runs marathons and everything...she's not gonna die.

I don't understand how fat chicks look in the mirror with their gut hanging over their pants and think they look good. It baffles me to no end. I feel uncomfortable with a little bit of my stomach showing and I'm not even fat!
I'm the same way. I always feel so self conscious.. and I'm not fat. But still.. whenever I wear shirts that show my tummy (not that much..), I feel so weird and I always wonder how the hell fat girls can do it. If I was as fat as some of them.. I'd hide my huge belly instead of showing it off for sure.

And horribly shallow on top of that.

I think the hardest part for me is getting on a diet. I can typically eat whatever I want and never gain weight, but I'd have to change up my diet to lose weight. Right now I'm just trying to drink less pop, but damn IBC cream soda in the bottle is GOOD!

On the McDonalds point:

Yes, if you eat nothing but cheesburgers all day, you're gonna be a bit *husky* but, when they launch a range of "Healthy Salads" which actually contain more fat than the standard cheesburger (which they don't make you aware of) at that point I think maybe you could blame them.

http://www.healthypages.net/newspage.asp?newsid=4113

And going on what a lot of you have said, do I get to feel superior because my weight gain wasn't casued exclusively by bad eating? (I eat a fair amount of junk food between 17-18, like I went for pizza with my boyfriend at the time about once a week, so I know that didn't help) but I put on a lot of weight because I was on depo-provera for 4 years?
The answer is no, because people still look at you and judge you the same way regardless.

Incidentally once you start gaining weight, it's very difficult to lose it, and very, very easy to put more on. Saying "just do some exercise" well, it's easier said than done, trust me, especially since if you are carrying more weight around excercise can actually damage your joints in quite a serious way.

I dislike people who have nothing better to do than make comments about the appearance of others. Seriously, if someone is fat, you might not think they look good, but if they are comfortable wearing what they are wearing, what difference does it make to you? They aren't doing you any harm are they?

But I guess, if it bothers you, it's your perogative to have a moan about it, I just think there are more important things to worry about than wether someone has got the figure to carry off a cropped t-shirt or notFatty?
