I'll admit, I am a We The Kings fan, but that definitely made me chuckle. I like their sound, generic as it may be, and I like a lot of their lyrics. However, I acknowledge the pop-y-ness of their stuff and the fact that most of their fan base is in the 12-15 year old range, so I get why a lot of people don't like them.
