i live here in tejas, but my father grew up in the chicago area, and loved the cubs. i watch as often as i can but i find that i have to end up reading everything on the internet. there's always hoping, but im not sure they're consistent enough to make a run for the wildcard this year. the injuries have sucked. i hope that next season, they'll realize that they are the second richest team in baseball and buy some stellar offense and a bullpen. that can get the job done a little better than the hit or miss that we've got right now, because we'll never cut it with the outfield we have right now. the pitching is so good, but it seems that we can never back up the really good performances. i'm hoping for at least a solid playoff run next season and a healthy roster.

agreed...i hate when people judge the cubs so harshly just because they are always in the spotlight...because of the damn world series drought they are always judged way harder than other teams. they are a solid team and that is just getting back to full strength but people expect to much from them...a winning season is a winning season, and the cubs are back on the road to do that 3 seasons in a row compared to where they couldnt do it for almost 10 years. im happy with them and the haters can fuck off....i hope for a playoff run also!

it's upsetting that they have an incredible pitching staff but always run into bad luck...one year they're gunna catch everyone by surprise and end up being all healthy and make a nice run. Plus they always have a fantastic farm system so if they can work out a few young players and bring them up they can easily be the best in the majors. They have Felix Pie, don't they?

sox fan here. don't worry, no flaming to be done. just wondering where you're finding these so-called "bandwagoners." ? cause i sure as hell haven't met any. the press is constantly doubting. even the hardcore fans are skeptical. that's how we roll on the south side.

Im a Red Sox fan so I feel ya on the issue. I root for the Cubs because of the common bonds we share. The countless blown opportunities, the fans, the history, the stadiums, the tradition, etc.
You guys gotta win it, shit. You're taking way to long.

that's right. i forgot to mention that. they have the foundation for a championship team, they just have to work their outfield and bullpen, and when they get all their players healthy, it will be great too watch

well i live out in the west suburbs, and i work at a golf course...last year you would see nothing but cubs talk, and now this year the same fucks come and talk about the white sox, at that point i want to take one of my drivers and beat the shit outta him for being a fair chicweather fan, and also because my driver has no other use since i cant hit it lol
alright so maybe that is overreacting, but anyway the cubs do have a solid chance in the 2nd half ...they have won 5 of the last 6 and in good form also, just need to keep playing tough
i am just upset because in chicago if your a fair weather fan you might as well leave, thats like being a packer fan in chicago ...I HATE THAT!!

Cards fan here, of course. Cubs look good this year, but we're still 12 games a head. I'll actually be at the game Sunday with my pops. And if anyone from the stl area happens to look at this I have tix for sale for Friday's game, 15 rows behind home plate. hit me up.

have a good time caleb, i appreciate the cards talent, especially Pujols...defintley will become one of the best players this league has seen. i dont get how people can say the white sox are a better team than the cards, why do i keep thinking its all luck?

i hear you there, and yea they are playing out of there asses...yesterday was a joke win for them, today they finally got there asses handed to them, it seems like the only teams they play are the indians royals and tigers all of which suck ...they play boston for 4 games this weekend, maybe they will realize who they are now

Well, the way to Sox are playing, they will sweep them. In those 15 games if they win 9 or 10 out of the 15 would you call them for real?
Edit: didnt read it right at the first time.

i'll buy that, but usually teams like that are hot for most of the season, and then fall apart the next.
case in point: our very own Texas Rangers. the year they got rid of their only remaining marquee player they barely miss making the playoffs. everybody thought they would tinker out, but they stayed hot for pretty much the entire season. but we all know where they are this season.

Cubs fan. I have been for fifteen years now. The Cubs have looked good lately and there are a few reasons for that. The biggest reason is that Corey Patterson is finally gone. You would think that Dusty would be smart enough to send him to the minors after the first 200 strikeouts he had, but no, lets wait until he gets up to 300 strikeouts. The second reason is that Kerry Wood hasn't pitched (except for the game they lost a few days ago). And don't try to blame his injuries on his terrible performances this year. I'm too lazy to look for his record, but I believe he has only won two games this year. Also, get rid of Greg Maddux. Let him get his 3000 strikeouts and then send his ass of to the Devil Rays or somewhere. Send him to another team that won't notice if he fucks up or not.
Now to the White Sox. I can't wait to see them fall apart in the next few weeks. It always happens. The Twins will win the division and then get beat in the first round of the playoffs by the Yankees or the Red Sox. Always happens.

i don't think that's a good idea. if you notice as a whole, when the injuries in the pitching staff calm, the pitching gets better. Wood, Maddux and Zambrano all have era's under 3.00 for the month of July. Like it or not, Maddux wins games. he sure as hell loses them(sometimes i marvel at the inconsistencies within his seasons), but he strikes people out, and racks up wins. it's been seventeen seasons since he's won less than fifteen games. that's unbelievable. he's given up 3 runs or less in five of his losses. Kerry Wood has pitched gems for the last two months. in his two losses he gave up three runs, and 3 and 1 runs respectively in his two no decisions. the cubs run support is more inconsistent than his pitching. i would give it time.We should bulk up the outfield like you suggested. we have powerhouse offense on one day, and we struggle to get three runs against the reds on the next. this will improve first with better hitting. not necessarily better pitching.

im sick of cubs fans getting mad that white sox are getting a little more attention then they usually do. The whitesox will always play second fiddle to the cubs in chicago, and this is what annoys the shit out of white sox fans.
also, im sick of people saying that the white sox will fall apart merely because of their lack of superstars. When did having excellent team cohesiveness not become something that wont warrant results? Look at how the twins have done in the last few years. They didnt have their share of superstars, yet won the division several times in a row.
im just a jaded, bitter whitesox fan. i hate the cubs and always will.

I'm a diehard White Sox fan, but damnit, i'm also just a hardcore baseball fan that lives in Chicago, I'd kill to see either damn team win the big one! Of course, i'd prefer the Sox, but shit, if the Cubs are in it at the end, go Cubs. A subway series would make me a very happy man.
I like their chances at the Wild Card, they're consistant enough to stay in the fight, and Derek Lee is leading the way quite nicely. Though, the division is obviously going to go to to The Cardinals. Everything gets thrown out once we hit the playoffs.
Anyway, as i keep my eyes on the cubs... i'll still cheer Go Sox..
