View Full Version : Would you like your own clone?

Honestly, would you like one? The movie "the Island" is gonna explore this idea. I personally have no problem with it...having your own personal clone would make the problems like organ donations completely disappear...you'd have your own "backup"...I think it's good...but there are definitely a lot of ethical and moral issues behind this.
Discuss.

Yeah I think it would be pretty cool to clone, until they steal your idenity.

No because it'd be 1. playing god 2. it's definnetly immoral ur giving something life and then taking it away, how wood you feel if you were the clone and they needed to kill you so someone else may live on...

I would make my clone go to work for me and I'd get all the money. Hooray!
Hmm it would be neat unless they had the same brain power. If your clone was smart, it wouldn't listen to you and would form its own opinions.

ya well that's the problem. I mean...it's a real tough choice to make but it would also help solve many of the world's problems...but it would create more in the process.

If I made a clone of myself, wouldn't it have the same health problems as me? Everyone assumes the clone would be perfectly healthy but wouldn't my problems come along with it? Hell, the clone could even contract come new problems that I would have to give my organs to save.

nope that's not true at all...not all health problems are genetic...in fact more problems are caused by the environment...yes some people who are completely healthy might get diabetes cause of genetics but it's rare...if your clone is kept in a healthy environment...you won't have to worry about the clone getting disease.
and it's not like your clone will get it's arm ripped off by a truck...that's something environment controlled.

What if your clone becomes better than you? He gets all the women, all the money, all the fame and leaves you in the gutter then people would be coming upto you in the street n saying "hey, you look just like..." Until you eventually snap and begin hunting yourself down.
Thats my movie idea anyway, don't any of you steal it.

hahaha dude, that sounds worse than the island...hahaha...I could careless what my clone does, I just want my clone around as a "backup"...maybe they can find a way to keep it in like...a controlled sleep like in those sci fi movies...and then gut it when I need the organs...
wow, that's horrible...

I think that, like in The Island, if the clones were unconscious beings, then it's not such a problem, but if they are running around and really living, then it's not right.
I am not sure about the "playing God" thing. God gave us the capacity to learn and treat ourselves of illness. If you have an infection, you'll take antibiotics to get better. You have to use what God gives you

but really, where exactly do you find a completely healthy environment? and is it really ethical to lock up a clone in a closet for their whole life? not so much
i think in theory it is a good idea, but i think once you include the details it isn't as good

Lol. I don't get along with people like me at all, so I can't imagine I'd get along with myself.
That and it'd be creepy to see someone doing the things I do that nobody knows about anyway. >.>
