The much talked about World Audience Blog (http://www.worldaudience.com/blog) has been updated with today with an interesting piece that asks for readers to join a dialogue about the strength of messageboards and what implications they have on the music business. Make sure to leave questions and comments once you've read the article, as all input will be read and responded.

That one dude Marcus that left a comment is right on the money. Messageboards are like mythical worlds where kids act out their agression on one another. Things are alwasy so negative, like they want to be the bigger fan, so they put down others.

Or wear black eye makeup and a cool cho-cho train hat.
It's nice to have an intelligent conversation about something. Too bad there’s always someone to dumb it down and talk about their "scene".

It's common mistake. Many a time I've heard people named Teddy accidently call themself Bob.
But really you dont think bands have be broken straight out because of message boards and the internet community. In my opinion, a band like Spill Canvas is a perfect example of this. Don't all jump on me at once, but is he really as amazing as the internet community makes him out to be?

I feel really lame by not giving my true imput because I'm short on time (I probably will later), but I really like this topic of discussion and I think there are a lot of points that have and can still be made.

no, i didn't say that. what i was trying to get as was that if there is a hype or buzz building around a band on a messageboard or community, it's there because of a reason. hopefully that reason is talent and musicanship, however it sometimes can be a false pretense.
also, bands can break out then kind of fade away (letterkills). it's all about staying power (brand new).
i have no problem with bands breaking out on message boards, weather good or overly-hyped. everyone has their own tastes and they ultimately will decide what they like, cause when it comes down to it, all this talk doesn't mean shit and it breaks down to what you're rockin on your drive by yourself to work/school/wherever.
i'd just rather have a shitload of bands to know about and choose from than what the radio feeds me. so thank you internet.
