I was there...twice. Saw them in LA and it was so good I had to see them again at Vegoose. Sooo sick.

Human After All took a while to grow on me, but once it did, I loved it. I think the remixes album helped a little. Homework is still their best by far, though.

I've only got Discovery, but Aerodynamic is one of my favorite songs ever.

It's all about Aerodynamic, such a phenominal song.

The Alive 2007 tour is over completely, and given that their previous tour was 97-98, I doubt they'll be playing anytime soon. I believe their former manager even said that they have no plans to tour, whatsoever.

I listened to Homework last night and was actually a little disappointed. I dunno. I'll have to spin it again.

Really? Interesting. What album would you reccommend then?

Robototron
01/12/09, 01:31 PM
If you start getting into DP through their later albums Homework will probably take some time to get used to. Discovery is definitely a much poppier, accessible album, but spin Homework a few times and you'll really start to get into it.

It's an album that, unless you're already big on House & Techno, will probably sound a little more repetitive and less interesting at first, but it starts to really open up the more you listen.

chipdip18
01/12/09, 01:38 PM
Ahh i see, well i definitely will need to get into more Daft Punk before that album then, more accessible for now.

I'd recommend checking out Alive 97. It basically does to Homework what Alive 2007 did to Human After All, which is make it 10 billion times more awesome. The live version of "Da Funk" is crazy good.

01/12/09, 01:42 PM
Alright, i'll keep that in mind. I've heard some crazy things about their live show, that is for sure haha. And how they only have four released pictures of them or something?

Yeah, there are like a handful of photos you can find in Google Images from the 90s. It wasn't until Discovery that they starting appearing in public only in costume, so before 01 you can see some live footage and stuff like that of them.

It's not really that big a secret though, you can see recent photos of them on photoblogs and stuff like that from afterparties and shit. The night before they played in LA I met one of them at DJ Falcon's gallery opening.

Rumor is they're working on new stuff, but you know how the internet is when it comes to rumors.

Good duo.
Though not the best.
For Daft Punk, for every good song they have, they have 3 bad ones to follow it.

Check out Boyz Noize and Justice if you guys like Daft Punk.

It's Boys Noize. What Daft Punk songs would you say are bad? I mean, you're basically saying that the majority of their albums are bad, considering it's not like they have very many songs on them. I'm guessing you like the singles and not much else?

Excuse the typo.

Sure alive is epic. But it's almost like their greatest hits.

Good:
One More Time
Aerodynamic
Around The World
Rollin' & Scratchin'
Robot Rock
Prime Time Of Your Life
High Life

Not good:
Something Aboust Us
Da Funk
Technologic
The Brainwasher
Steam Machine
Make Love
Daftendirekt
Indo Silver Club
Phoenix
Short Circuit

And I know their more, but I don't really know the names of the ones I don't like. And I didn't include their Daft Club and Human After All Remixes.

Boys Noize and Justice just solid albums.
I dig it.

Including Da Funk in your not good list is normally an automatic fail, but judging by your likes and dislikes (and the fact that you singled out Justice and Boys Noize as two artists DP fans would like) I'm assuming what you like about Daft Punk are their more rockist, pop elements and not so much their more traditional House stuff. Which is pretty understandable.

Jefferson Rank
02/25/09, 05:45 AM
For me it's kind of the opposite. I can get pop beats anywhere, but Daft Punk is pretty unique with some of their more techno-ish songs. I like Justice also, but Daft Punk just is better overall.

I heard Bonnaroo might be trying to get them this year, I already got my ticket so I'm hoping this might come true. It may not though, who knows!
