The new album just got released. I'm liking what i hear. Opinions?
I also recommend checking out coconut records (which is really just jason schwartzman) if you haven't heard it yet.

The whole album is up on his myspace to listen to: myspace.com/coconutrecords

It's enjoyable pop music, much like Schwartzman's first album and the first few Phantom Planet albums.

Yes, I think anyone expecting anything more would be disappointed, but if you take it for what it is it really delivers in my opinion.

I like it, but I still think Nighttiming was better.

i only listened to it once, but i enjoyed it! i think it might be less catchy than nighttiming, but still a good pop album nonetheless. jason is a talented dude.

I like the new album, but I have to say I liked the first better. It could also be the case that once I listen to it more and more...it will be more enjoyable. But I definitely love Jason Schwartzman's voice, he is one talented guy.

Just downloaded it, and I loved it when I streamed it last week. Hope he keeps pumping out great stuff.

Is the record similar to Nighttiming, Todd?

Not directed at me, but it somewhat is. It's a little more subdued, and IMO it doesn't have a song of the caliber of Nighttiming, but otherwise seems pretty slick.

So more like Ask Her To Dance than Back To You. Could be interesting.

Just read it, was a great review! You gave a great description of what the record is like, and got all its strengths presented

I was going to review it myself this week if I found the time, but now I don't really feel like it because I'll never come up with something as good as you ;)

Not really.

At the early stages it's just more, shall we say, convenient, than a more complex for reasons I don't really care to discuss right here :)

Solid review, but in the first paragraph, you claim Phantom Planet broke up. As far as I know, they're still together and they're touring.

Also, not to be an armchair editor (Vinh can attest to how difficult my syntax and punctuation can be), punctuation should be inside the quotation marks.

Are you sure? I am absolutely certain I saw an update on here not too long ago saying that they called it a day?

Edit: Found it (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=699932). Technically on hiatus and not broken up, so should probably change the wording.

And thanks for the grammar tip, I'll edit and keep in mind forever and always ;)

It couldn't have really been put any better.

edit: Good review on Davy by the way.

I've always found them enjoyable. That's a pity.
