now you feel how we as Rangers fans felt when we lost Leetch, Graves, and Nedved.

Damn. I can see Amonte leaving, but LeClair!?

when 4ever ends

i think its good for the sport .. now these vets will go out and be on other teams which will make games more fair.

well... thats in my opinion

i know...he's what i still think of when i think flyer...but as a 36 year old, he would have been making 18%+ of the entire teams salary...unless you have a guy scoring 70 goals, that can't happen anymore, let alone a 36 year old...

i love him though, i hope they resign him as a free agent cheaper and let him retire a flyer (that should be the slogan too)

He was going to make close to $6 million i believe (with the 24% rollback). Definitely not worth that much although I wouldn't mind seeing him in teal next year to replace what we lost in Damphousse. ;)
Damn right. This cap is great for the Sharks because they have room to sign all these amazing players other teams can no longer afford.

what do you mean by fair? It's obvious that a high payroll does not guarantee victory in hockey (something that makes hockey so much better than let's say baseball where the rich teams are also the best teams)...Heck, look at the ottawa senators, among the poorest in hockey but still among the best teams in the league.

Washington Nationals....Chicago White Sox.....
like you can compare the nationals to the yankees or red sox? come onnnnnnn. Baseball is a sport of individual talent...doesn't require a lot of team effort in comparison to hockey.

All I hear on ESPN now is how those two teams are on the decline and in danger. I know it's too good to be true to see teams other than the Yanks/Sox in the ALCS. NLCS will definitely have the Cardinals in it.

as much as the small salary cap sucks for the players right now in hockey, it will save the game in the long run...as baseball spirals further and further from anything resembling parity, they might want to take note at what happens when a sport doesn't support its smaller market teams

LeClair had to go...he was just dead space...he has hardly done anything in the last few years with all of his injuries...especially his back problems....I love John as much as the next guy...he is one of the only guys left from when I first got into the Flyers...but the business has changed dramatically with this new CBA so I wouldn't be surprised if all of these big named guys start leaving their teams

damn.. it's going to be interesting to see who else is let go in the coming weeks.

So you're saying the Florida Marlins couldn't be compared to the Yankees when they won the World Series 2 years ago?
nope

and why

where are they now? They don't have the consistency these richer teams have because the marlins don't have the buying power these guys do.

i remember 2 years ago at the trade deadline, that the flyers were doing everything they could to move leclair, but no one wanted him...the legion of doom got me into hockey, so he will definitely be missed...but i think the flyers are goin to be the favorites this year, especially if they get somebody like neidermeyer on defense
