View Full Version : Your Super Bowl Party

ACA

So what's your Super Bowl party going to be like this year? Recommendations for fun things to do before/at half/after? Food recs or recipes? Beer recs?

Or talk about past ones?

39 (Patriots) - Down by Philly rooting for the Birds with my dad and girlfriend. Too much food.. lots of baked ziti and other dinner-type meals, some beers. Not too much else.

40 (Steelers) - In a dorm, about five people total. Too much liquor, some pizza, and barely remembering any of the game.

41 (Colts) - At a Colts fan apartment, about thirty people total. Two kegs, beer pong before the game and at halftime. Taco dip, chips, salsa, and pizza the whole time. Evening alone with the girlfriend after while my brother, Colts fan, was absolutely trashed and ventured to Rutgers for Grease Trucks.

42 (Giants) - My house by New York with Giants fans, about fifteen people total. Lots of liquor, lots of frozen foods, and lots of Chinese food midway through the game. Party afterward to celebrate the occasion that lasted until the Giants parade in New York City.

I'm a Cowboys fan that grew up in Philadelphia and lives five minutes from East Rutherford. There's no team in all of sports I'm more about.. I was at that terrible game Week 17, uhg.

When they're out, I'll root for my local teams. When the locals are out, I'll root for the NFC.

I just wish my favorite team would win a playoff game since I've hit puberty.

Yea, that is true. I hate their other rivals -- Redskins, Niners, and Packers -- and I would only root for them unless it came down to the Super Bowl, in which case they're still NFC so gotta root for the conference. Hate the fucking AFC.

Hopefully it will look like that.. the only time I rooted for the Eagles is when they played against the Patriots a few SB's ago. Yea I know it seems crazy for a Giants fan to do this but I honestly cannot stand Tom Brady and respect McNabb way more.

Last year's SB was great. I went over my best friend's house from my old town, whose family are huge Big Blue fans and ate way too many ribs.

It seems like it's gonna be an all PA Super Bowl. As a Steelers fan, I'm not sure who I'd rather play against. The winner of the AFC Championship is gonna win the Super Bowl. I know this is said every year (and everyone was dead wrong last year.) I've gotta say it again.

I'm in a season-long pool for MNF ($125 to join, you get numbers every week w/ the payout being $100 for final score and $50 for halftime. Same goes for every playoff game and, for the Super Bowl, the rest of the money is on the line, which is usually around $3000/$4000) that this bar runs and they throw a Super Bowl party w/ open bar and a free buffet, so thats where I'll be this year.

the entry fee was worth it for the super bowl party, alone, but i've already hit my numbers once.

I usually don't drink for SBs unless the Steelers are gonna be in it. We (friends) won't drink until after the game either, cause I wanna remember the game. Only time we'll drink during the game is if the other team scores. (each time the opponent scores take a shot or chug a beer or something) Win or lose, we'll probably get smashed afterwards.

Haha well yeah I'll probably have a few, just won't go overboard is what I'm saying. But I know plenty of people that just love to get smashed before or during the game. I'm just saying you're gonna want to remember it if your teams in the game, unless they lose. Never understood why people do that.

they both have their time and place. for big games, i like going to bars because its fun to be in big groups w/ other fans when there is a lot at stake (celtics in the nba finals was the latest example of this). typically, though, i enjoy just watching the game at home where i can pay better attention to it.

when its a big game, for me, being at a bar doesn't really take away from watching because almost everyone is paying close attention anyway.

jbergamotto
01/14/09, 02:07 PM
I usually do that for tailgating at a game. I went to the Giants Eagles playoff game last Sunday and by the time I got into the stadium, I was so smashed that I didn't really remember certain plays during the game. I had to watch highlights when I got home to jog my memory. Being that we lost, I don't regret it at all.

The worst feeling in the world is sobering up while you are at a game, which became a problem during college games since there is no alcohol. After freshman year I stopped getting drunk before football/basketball games.

i hate it when there's a single game i need to focus on, but for NFL sunday nothing beats being surrounded by 11 hdtv's. if you can accomplish that anywhere other than a bar then you are the man.

my roommate has Sunday Ticket (he's a vikings fan in packer country), so since there were so many games in week 17 worth watching, we had a 67" hdtv and moved two 42" hdtvs for each side. we watched pretty much everything we had even a minor interest in. it wont get much better than that, really.

If the Eagles are not in it, some bar or maybe have people at my house. My roommate has a 50 inch in the living room. If the Eagles are in it there will be thousands tailgating in the Eagles parking lot in Philly, just like we did for the Phillies so that we can run down Broad if we win.

I've never been or held any SB party. Mostly because of the time difference. The game starts about midnight our time. Though it is on school holidays, but I've never had the time for it. But this year I am really thinking about it, especially if the Steelers win against the Ravens.

Jaime has a bad ass buffalo chicken dip recipe. i'm not sure on the exact numbers but it goes like this

1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
bottle of blue cheese dressing
X amount of frank's red hot
a block of monterey jack cheese

mix it all together and stick it in the oven for 20 minutes or so.

I do the same. I think the most wasted i've been recently was game 7 of Dallas - San Jose in Western Conference Semis. The game lasted so long and i was flipping my shit i probably went though 10 beers that game.

I was buzzing pretty good during the Titans-Ravens game as well. Lucky i had only a six pack of shiner.
