Oh man!!! I just saw these dudes last week with hellogoodbye, JamisonParker, and The Rocket Summer...what a ridiculously happy good time!!! Houston Calls allowed me to hear the album in its entirety and I've gotta tell you, they've got serious game. I'm not saying they're gonna win any originality ribbons any time soon, but they are so on top of what they do its almost a crime. And I can't believe how unfathomably nice they are...to EVERYONE...but I guess when you've got their particular brand of synth-pop awesome surrounding you all the time, its hard to be all dark and brooding-you know, like JamisonParker (who were also really awesome, but still, there was a bit too much of a downer vibe, not to mention a shitload of feedback, from them). To anyone who gets to see this tour, congratulations, buy a shirt or something...and definitely buy this record when it comes out.

WOOOHOOO!!!

The new cd is AMAZING (as i stated before, enjoy the older versions of some of the songs, and think a few songs from the 2 samplers should have been on it) but none the less one of the most solid cds in a long time... as for the review, referencing bands is not a substitute for coherent discriptions. "this song sounds like this band, its catchy, this song sounds like this band, its catchy, and this song sounds like this band, with a hint of this band" Come on, for the amount of respect, and traffic that absolutepunk.net receives, i would have expected a bit more journalism, rather than a freshman in highschools review.

I'll work on that.

EDIT: Hot damn, I just read over that, and realized I did use 3 band descriptions while talking about the music. I'll try to redo a bit of it tonight.

Definately an awesome CD. Good Review. Rushmore seems to be getting some quality talent to, Self Against City and The Track Record are both great also in my opinion. Need to get An Angle, Steel Train, and Jenoah off Drive Thru now. Sorry if anyone likes em, but they just don't fit what I, and many others, associate with Drive Thru Records.

I can't wait to buy this album! I love the songs that I have heard so far. To be honest with you I think that everyone should give The Track Record and Self Against City a listen too because Houston Calls isn't the only awesome band on Rushmore. Faith was restored in Drive Thru/Rushmore for me a while ago after picking up The Track Record's Ep and Self Against's Ep as well as DATF's full length. But this cd adds to it. It's going to be great!

Im looking forward to getting it. I pre-ordered it and well, I just can't wait to get it! The 90 second clips from the new album on purevolume made me sure that this album wouldn't be anything short of awesome!!

you're an idiot.

and you obviously haven't heard The Cover or House Of Fools either.

How about David Mellilo? he's a little different. How about Socratic and Adelphi? You obviously haven't heard their new stuff either.

Get over it, DTR isn't all pop-punk anymore, it's better.

I think we need just one word to sum this c.d. up.

Catchy.

DTR wasnt always pop punk either, it had alot of ska... so regaurdless of what type of label it was before and now.. all that matters is the other kid is right, that stuff is butt rock and should be on some college radio stations label.

I'm an idiot cause I have an opinion? I saw David Melliilo with Houston Calls, didn't lean anyway, not as fun as Houston Calls or the other bands that played by any means. How about Hidden In Plain View, The Early November, Hellogoodbye, and so on. For every "different" band you name, I can name one that people would assosiate to Drive-Thru. I don't like the other stuff they have on there, don't be a prick and call people idiots cause they don't share your opinion.

dtr is going to be alright. The houston calls album is great, adelphia's new stuff is rad, i've heard great things about socratics new stuff, i like david melillo, and self against city's full length in april 06 (so it said on the dtr mailing list) is going to fucking amazing... i cant wait.
