I was wondering, is it safe to walk around San Francisco at night alone? Like some venues (ex. Slim's, Fillmore, Grand Regency, Bottom Of The Hill) are they safe to walk from at night to Bart alone? I've been wondering this for quite a time now because I really don't have anyone to go to concerts with so I figured to go by myself but the problem is safety. From what I've heard San Francisco is a decent city only certain areas are bad and I was wondering if walking at night would be a smart idea.

No.
The Warfield is the best to walk to at night since its close to bart. I would say hell no to Bottom of the Hill tho. Thats a long walk down streets that are pretty shady.
what time at night? it gets dark early!

Aha, probably after the concert around 11? I knew Bottom Of The Hill was located near a not so good area.

lol. I've never tried to take public transportation from any of those venues except slims. Slims is okay but really it's just easier to drive. You should probably just not walk to be safe.

How are you gonna get to and from bart from tracy?

I did some of these walks a few years back when I was around your age and it was pretty sketch. No exaggeration, around 11 when we got out there were people getting warm around trashcan fires, shady characters offering us drugs and plenty of awkward stares in our direction. It was three of us, all around 16, all 6 foot and honestly, I really didn't feel safe. Things may have changed a bit since then, but I doubt it. Just be smart and try to get some buddies to walk with you.

Ahaha, I just moved to Milpitas XD Thanks for reminding me to change my location. Ugh, I'm pretty sure no one will go with me so no concerts. Fuck my age.

Walking alone at night in a city, is probably never a wise choice.
But good luck, don't get killed by a black man :D

I would never do that...idk much about san francisco, but baltimore and dc are both really sketcy at night and tons of vandalism and murders and god knows what. I just get someone to drive me there and pick me up and I don't stand outside when there aren't other people around.

Yeah that's DC, one of the most crime ridden cities in America.

I'm always scared out of my mind walking in certain areas alone at night. Since moving I always take a taxi after shows and carry pepper spray.

Pretty much haha. So glad I don't live in the city. I'd be paranoid all day thinking I could be murdered walking out my front door. Suburbs = home sweet home

Warfield-Not an issue at all, have been solicited to buy but nothing too bad
Slims-Could be bad, have been hassled a few times, one time this crazy guy wouldnt let us go because he wanted our pants and when we kept walking ended up following us for a few blocks.
Bottom of the Hill-Take a cab
Grand Regency- you're fine

What about the Fillmore?
The Fillmore is fine to walk to , you just get off on the bart stop that puts you right by City Hall/the Asian Art museum. It's a medium length walk but through nice neighborhoods the whole way.

psh, don't miss a concert just because you don't have anyone to go with.
I use to do that, and I still regret it. If I don't have someone to go with now, I'll go anyways.
Besides, you'll probably end up meeting people.

I love Slim's, but I definitely wouldn't want to walk around down there... alone... at night.

Some of these places are kinda sketch, but it is pretty likely that some other people from the venue are going to be walking to the bart stations also. try and find some people to walk with after the show.

bad things can happen no matter what, groups dont hurt your chances, but things can still happen. If you went alone, most likely nothing would happen, and im sure at least a couple other people would probably be heading for bart so i would try and walk near those people. though thats not always a good idea!
Have fun though, but yeah stay away from Bottom of the Hill if alone. The other ones should be fine.

I share your conundrum. I live in the bay area, and I like to attend concerts frequently. Up to this point, I've been able to have a friend or a cousin accompany me. But, it gets to be bothersome because many of my friends/family don't share the same musical taste as me, so I usually end up 'dragging' them along. It would be so much easier if I could go alone to concerts, but I don't know if that's such a good idea, since I'm a puny 5 foot Asian girl, lacking the capabilities of defending herself.
As previously mentioned, the Warfield would be the easiest venue to get to. But, as for the other venues, it's not so safe. Though, for concerts at Slim's there's usually a good amount of people walking to Bart after the show, so I suppose it isn't so bad in that case.
Yeah....this Tuesday, I might have to go alone to the City & Colour concert at Slim's since I can't find anyone who wants to go with me. I'm not so much worried about walking from the venue to Bart after the show since there will be some people, I'm just apprehensive about getting to the venue from Bart, since it gets really dark so early. I'll probably have to buy some pepper spray before the day of. But, hopefully, I can find someone to go with me.
