I've heard all those bands -- I dislike them all. All Time Low has their moments with me, but overall... no thanks.

Even then, I still cannot see how anybody could tell me those bands are any different from each other. In any way. They follow the same style, formula, vocal performance. Hell, their guitars are all tuned the same, the production is identical and they're all on the same label (3 of the 5 are on Fearless)!

Like them or not, they are offering nothing creative to the table. They're a sugar fix.

No, I would not. I actually like Panic from time to time -- at least they aren't cookie-cutter and tried out a different formula, while every other band continues to ride the coattails of Fall Out Boy. Panic actually went and wrote an album that sounded 100% different from the other bands they're lumped with -- sure, it got mixed reception and didn't translate on the charts, but I respect them more for not being clones.

The Maine and We The Kings sound the same, and FTSK and Metro sound the same. The four don't sound exactly alike. FTSK and MS are really sad excuses for musicians. We The Kings and The Maine are just one of the millions of pop punk bands out there that sound identical.

First off, when this topic was discussed back in the summer (on AP.net), it was concluded that The Maine are just another one of the bands that will come and go. To say that they don't sound like other bands, regardless of what you were implying about genre music, is just wrong. I don't think they sound like any of the bands you listed, except maybe, um, The Maine? John O's vocals sound eerily similar to Ken Vasoli or even Shaant, but the band sounds like the noise I hear when I'm scraping shit off my boots after walking my dogs.

Now, Chris wasn't really being an asshole. Had that comment come from Jason Tate, then yes. Chris has a wretched hatred for The Maine that is shared by a vast majority of the AP.net community. He might have sounded like an asshole, but when you have such little respect for a band like The Maine, it's a fruitless exercise to be an asshole. The subject of Is The Maine Good or Bad has been exhausted, so I'm sure the replies to the question won't be too pleasant.

Now, a million people jumped on the PATD bandwagon, but their first album was nothing like anything out. It was a catchy ass record that I still listen to. Anything that PATD does will be infinitely better than The Maine's best work.

With that said, I won't make fun of the listener, just the band. So, if you like The Maine, it's all good. Everyone has a band that they would/will/do get made fun of for.
