"Angel of Death" by Slayer.
The first time I heard this song I was real fucked up. My friend was blasting it in the car, and it about changed my life. I could imagine all the colors and guitar strokes at about every note that was played. It was an experience that I will never forget. This song has influenced me in ways I could never imagine.
I do not think one can argue with this statement: This song has made its mark in todays music.
This is my first thread. I hope to get a discussion going on why you think this is a good song or if you think this song straight up blows.

I think its a great song, even though Slayer is a boring band.
edit: no, Angel of Death is by no means the heaviest song ever.

Huh
I've heard that they suck but never boring.
Interesting. What is a band that is not boring?

The first band I'd name there would be Dillinger Escape Plan, but even their discography can get a little repetitive at times.
I just think Slayer is boring because they rarely change their formula. I've listened to songs from pretty much all of their albums and at no point did I ever go "oh, that sounds different." Kind of like The Ramones.

The only album I like from them is Reign in blood. I agree that all their stuff sounds the same.

Definitely, they're the sorta band that if you're gonna stick to one album, they're fine. But I generally don't do that with bands.

I see.
For me, if a Band can put out a good album, thats great.
But it takes a real good band to put out something amazing, fresh, and different every album.
Examples: Children of Bodom and AFI
Every album they have put out has had a new sound and style.

Black Sabbath - "War Pigs"
"Following Betulas" by Cult of Luna was the heaviest song I heard in 2008. Crushing.
