I know a lot of cultures and religions have predicted 2012, I dunno though. I'm a Christian and there is the verse in revelations that says no one knows when the he'll return not even the son.

2012 is the year in which we are supposed to shift "concioussness". its not a literal apocalypse or end of the world...its the end of a CYCLE that the world goes through. They predicted so many things that were quite spot on.... most people wont understand it. and i dont feel like explaining it. its to much information for a weekend morning :)

The sumarians also predicted the end to be in 2012, and they didnt quite descibe it as a change in consciousness, but more as an awakeing to the things that truly make up the world.
And then, it is predicted, the chaos will destroy the earth.
