I definitely favor and prefer manual transmission.

I dont have much trouble driving stick, but I definitely prefer automatic. It's less to think about, and allows your hands to be available for other things(stereo, CDs, cell phone, ect).

Automatic cars are sexy.

And automatic is just so much more fun to drive too!

I've actually never really learned to drive a manual car, so...

Stick is fun, but automatic saved my life at least twice.

How the fuck did automatic save your life? "Oh, coulda been shifting but I wasnt, so Im alive..."

MANUAL FOR LIFE.

Is the choice here between Less Than Jake - Automatic and Hot Water Music - Manual? What a tough choice... Both awesome bands from Gainesville. Both songs come off of arguably their best albums.

Automatic wins by a nudge.

stick-shift!

i get semi-bored when driving without it.

Manual for sure. All you people are saying that auto is better because it allows you to do other things in the car, but honestly I don't even think about shifting. It's second nature, and I still eat, talk on the phone, and all sorts of dangerous distractions to driving.

Automatic for me

I wish I could learn in an automatic. However, as I won't be able to afford one for many years to come, it's manual for me.

I used to hate it, but now stick-shift is my favorite way to drive. Anything else is boring and I find I'm actually safer with it. I'm forced to pay more attention to what I'm doing instead of the smooth and drowsy-inducing automatic.

Never tried manual

depends stick is more fun to drive (I have a mustang GT) and you have more control over the car but it is almost painfull to drive in bumper to bumper trafic with

Automatic cars are sexy.

And automatic is just so much more fun to drive too!

pushing a pedal down is not really driving..if you have never taken a sharp turn in second gear, youll have no clue what im talking about..i pity the laziness of automatic drivers..besides, manuals are more fuel efficient! i get 2-3 more MPH than what my car is listed at by coasting in neutral (which i know automatics can do but do they really remember to do that??)

humph..ive said my peace

even though i drive an automatic, manual is way more fun/bad-ass (if you have a nice car).

i learned stick on my uncle's 06 impreza. so nice and quick. i plan on getting an sti as my next car.

automatic. easier to get dome shots while you drive.

if you can do it right your engine and brakes will last longer.

Nothing says cool like when i pull up in my tan '97 cavalier-driving stick.
So I have to go with manual for the control in those Canadian winters and let's be honest, the awesome factor.

I drive manual. I find that when I drive automatic, I get bored or distracted more easily, which could be bad. Stick shift keeps me more involved.

VIVALAMATT
01/29/09, 05:36 PM
i'll drive either. automatic is just easier tho.

trappedintime
01/30/09, 08:55 AM
automatic is the best.

Angel Jin
01/30/09, 10:46 PM
the choice is clear here: automatic. i mean come on, how else am I supposed to text on my phone, change songs on my ipod, eat a sandwich, drink a soda AND drive all at the same time? as if we don't have enough distractions in our lives, we need something to keep us from being fully invested in the fundamentals of driving.

screw that noise, manual all the way. at least if someone tries to steal my car or if one of my friends wants to drive, they're shit out of luck.

I like automatic I use to know how to do a stick shift but it was forever ago.
