I was wondering what are people opinions on listening to music through headphones to get to sleep? I've been doing this for about 4/5 years now, and my mom's just started to kick up a fuss about it..!
So yeah, anyone know of any harmful effects of doing this? Thanks.

If you do it for over 4 years your body fucks up and you start shitting out of your ears and listening through your ass.

I listen to my cd player every night. I read somewhere that it helps make you smarter or something because your brain is sill active while you rest. Or i may just be pulling that out of my ass one of the two.

I have to listen to music, but if the cd is too long or has a hidden track, I'll wake up again which is sucky.
Sticks & Stones used to scare shit outta me with it's hidden track.

I dont usually.
When i went to italy though i slept to music in the bus all the time purely by accident. I must have been really tired to fall asleep to Blood Brothers.

It's direct speakers into your ears. It fucks them up. I do it occasionarly but not every night it'll screw up your hearing.

When I can't sleep I put on The Smiths' "Asleep" and Cursive's "Staying Alive." I don't know, something about that combination works wonders.
Anything with a piano usually puts me to sleep. The Rocket Summer usually gets me out quick for some reason. As for side effects. I can't say that I have heard or can think of any reasons why not to.

I never do, and I slept over at my cousin's house, and he plays in a hardcore band, so naturally we had to listen to As I Lay Dying on repeat all night.
Suprisingly, it was a good sleep.

I usually throw on my huge miles davis collection (miles davis played "jazz" if you dont know). But sigur ros works very well. But sometimes it just whatever I am listening to. The senses fail ep works.
also on a side note, in middle school I would listen to top 40 radio, and that put me out in 5 minutes.

Before I got a job and had no money, I would listen to my cd player/iPod with headphones. My mother thought I could possibly strangle myself to death while in my sleep, but I had doubts about that. I bought a subwoofer that I love recently for $30 at Best Buy.

Not that-that matters anymore. I use my subwoofer now.

i think the only way it could mess with your hearing is if you listen through headphones. I use my stereo, so its all good.

Ahh I miss Loveline. For some reason about a year ago the station that played it went out, and ever since it came back they don't put Loveline on any more. I used to listen to that all the time. I had no idea Adam Carolla had a new show. . .what is it?
uh oh smmoreo

You wake up more rested if you don't listen to music.
And if possible, you should use a stereo.

Well, since I'm a big chicken and I'm afraid of the dark, I usually fall asleep with the TV on.
