Does anyone remember this from childhood? Apparently Tim Burton is doing a remake (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117976106.html?categoryid=13&cs=1) that I wasn't aware of.

yeah, Tim did the first one, it was one of his short films he did at Disney, the new one is gonna be animated tho

Indeed. I was just reading about it on wiki. I loved it when I was a kid....which is weird because apparently Disney fired him over it, citing that he made a movie that was, "too scary for kids." Huh.

how was it scary??? lol, it got him the job of Pee Wee's Big Adventure tho, which was scarier than Frankenweenie!! lol I blame my fear of clowns on that movie! lol, great movie

I have no idea. This is what it says on wikipedia:

Burton was fired by Disney (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walt_Disney_Company) after the film was completed; the studio claimed that he had wasted company resources and felt the film was too scary for young audiences.

 Just Disney being silly I guess. I loved it and still do.

yeah its good, its on the nightmare dvd, or at least on the original dvd, i dunno about the new one, probably tho, i also read about it in Burton on Burton, its kinda a career autobiography, i read it several years ago, neat stuff. Frankenweenie was so funny tho cause its played out so seriously and when you look at the setting like the windmill being part of a putt putt course, its just 10 times funnier, just normal everyday stuff(except for the reanimated dog part) yet put in the classic horror tone, really brilliant

That windmill always stands out in my memory when I think of it. The off the wall absurdity/humor of the whole thing was what I loved (plus the ending was heartwarming in an odd way).

Haven't seen this, but I'm a big Tim Burton fan, so I'm looking forward to it. ^^

How goes it? This is that kid with the play from the Writer's Thread.

Well hello, it goes well. I have not posted in there in such a long time. I really should. I am still working on the documentary (last semester our professor did not give us nearly enough time to finish so we have to extend it to a later date and continue the work) and am also now working on my fictional short film for my senior capstone course. I'm writing about an overweight, former alcoholic/musician in his mid-thirties who takes a managerial position at a christian bookstore to pay his bills. The whole thng deals with the hypocrisy of selling religion to make a buck while the guy is also fighting to keep his sanity at the same time. I'm having a rough go of the first draft at the moment (I'm about fifty pages through it) and am working on trying to refine it and basically completely change it, haha. How are you doing with everything?

Damn, that's deep, man, heh.

Things have been going well on this end. I've kinda hit a block - I don't really have much to show for anything ever since I completed the play. I need something fresh to begin with, and I haven't hit that yet.I've been music like crazy to inspire myself, but alas.

I turned seventeen about a week ago. I feel funny.

Good to hear from you again. ^^

From Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, comes this image of young Victor Frankenstein laying in bed while his faithful pup Sparky lays beneath it. A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life — with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new ‘leash on life’ can be monstrous. Frankenweenie opens in theaters nationwide on October 5, 2012.
