I was talking to Thomas a while ago, and they say they're looking around. They feel as if their new material is really good, so they want the best offer they can get. I have no doubts that they have received countless offers. :) I am in love with Forgive Durden. <3

Now don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Bright Eyes and listen to them often. But though the lyrics are good, they're not so amazing that no other song's words can compare to them. Some of his lyrics sound like he's preaching, some are so simple they can't even be considered great, some are just average, and yes, some are truly amazing. I feel that many bands, forgive durden being one of them, have better lyrics in some songs than in some bright eyes, and saying you can't enjoy other lyrics because of Connor's seems rather ignorant.

Straight up, I hate the way Conor Oberst writes. It's all off-the-cuff random ass bullshit that tell no sort of story... all anybody has to do is piece together seemingly nonrelated words and make sure there's a subject/predicate scattered somewhere in there and you've got it done. I think it's much more interesting - and arguably shows more talent - to use words that common people use every day and still keep people intrigued.

I just read the lyrics to "Let's Not Shit Ourselves", for example, and to me there's three different fucking songs and subjects wrapped up in there, and I think that each could've been more effective if they were divided and focused on separately. All of his songs seem like Conor just freewrote for 15 minutes and decided to call it a day instead of sifting through it and singling out the good lines and tossing the bullshit.

I will admit though, most of my Bright Eyes' hatred comes from the fact that he sounds like he's being assraped by a gorilla.
