Ok so I've got a mesa boogie triple rectifier anda a mesa 4x12 modern slant cab. When I plam mute, and only when I palm mute, around the 7th through 10th fret, I get this terrible blasting, almost rattling sound. I have no idea why....

How old is your cab? Are the speakers broken in yet (~30 hours of playing at high volume)?

What guitar are you playing? Any pedals?

Is the rattling coming from the speakers themselves, the cabinet, the head, or something else in the room that's resonating?

for god's sake, sell the triple and buy a single. no one outside of an arena needs 150 tube watts.

This! Right here!

Or just sell the triple and get something sweet as fuck and lower wattage (30 watt ballpark?) shit's LOUD son! And you could bank some of that leftover dough, which today, isn't such a bad idea...

Yeah, I agree with that for sure. Single sounds better anyways...

I like 3 channels :(

I took 4 tubes out so its down to 50 watts anyways.

sounds like too much bass/low end to me but you would think mesa cabs are built to support that. certain bass frequencies can really peak out in decibels and make speakers rattle.

Mesa forgot 2 screws. They can die, but it's fixed so yaaay!

First off I am not sure that is safe. Second, what do you possible need 3 channels for that you can do with a gain boost pedal?

I am just trying to help you achieve maximum tone quality, but whatever, kids will be kids I guess.

It can be done, but Mesa doesn't recommend it on the Triple.

Well I wasn't looknig to buy a triple but I couldn't turn down the offer I got. After playing it more and more I realize I may not need 3 channels, youre right on about the pedal. I may look into getting an older 2 channel dual and taking 2 tubes out, or getting a single.

I mean I paid 1200 for the Head, Cab And road case, thats a killer deal haha.

Ok, I would have bought it too for that kind of deal. Road Case for the head and the cab?

all that for my marshall JCM900 half stack amounts to about the same price ;)

But the Mesa has adequate transformers and a power amp that isn't a ticking time bomb ;)

(not to mention resale value)

remember, it's a triple rec, not a single or even dual. hahaha

If the Mesa sound is what you are looking for, I personally prefer the single.

Yeah, with a Single Rec, you'll get more from your power tubes at lower volumes. Plus there's a lot less tubes to worry about.
