View Full Version : Fall of Efrafa (Official Thread)
this is probably the only band that I want to know more about right now. As being from the states their material is so hard to find, I know they are going on tour here soon, so I might check them out. From my understanding they are on their last release? then do they break up? this album to album concept seems amazing and I need to start from the beginning to get a complete grasp. But a huge late pass goes to me with this band.

Good band.
I thought you hated this band, Mike.
Didn't you say they were "Aren't they that terrible metal band with violin breakdowns?" in the Curl Up & Die thread? You might have just been mistaken or maybe I'm mistaken, but anyway, cool that you like them now.
And for Rawrr, RIYL is: Cult of Luna with really fast portions at times, and really long.

yea that dude compared them to Curl Up & Die and that was the only CUAD song he heard and it just happened to be the only CUAD song that's slowed down at parts. Every song by this band has got me interested in them, and I asked if they had the violin breakdowns and he said yes. But the songs I heard had no violin in them so I don't know. What I am more interested in is their concept with these albums. All this is hard to find because their myspace has no music player lol

Mike, check their bio page on their website. It pretty much describes their concept 100%.
The concept of the band is based partly on the political overtones of the book Watership Down by Richard Adams. In the book, Efrafa is a fascistic warren, where women are oppressed and lives are subdued by a dictatorship. We felt that the book dealt with human political institutions in a unique metaphorical way and thus decided to base a portion of our lyrics on it; the Efrafa representing the harsh encroachment of humans over the Earth and the Owsla representing the natural world and its battle to defend itself.
We plan to release a trilogy, that will collectively be known as The Warren of Snares. These three records are Owsla, Elil and Inlé (Inlé is yet to be completed). Owsla and Elil are available now. In Watership Down, the Owsla are soldiers, guardians of the warren. To us Owsla is the front line of nature, the last defense against destructive human race. Owsla is the last stand. Elil means predator and this record will deal with the evils of predatory religious institutions; ignorant belief systems that sway the minds of a large proportion of humanity on this planet, blinding us as we pollute and destroy the Earth. Inlé means death. This record will deal with existence; of life and death free of stagnated ideologies.

Tharn isn't a part of the trilogy, it's a cover.

Done.
But really. I haven't liked a metal band enough to sit through multiple 10 minute songs for a while.

Ha how things change. Mike made fun of me for liking this band once.
I was just going to say. I remember it clearly. Then again, believe you said something to the extent of them being "too crust for myspace."

Dude, I've been meaning to check these guys out, but have yet to find anything, could I get some links?
They are playing with Wolves in the Throne Room? Nice. They are one of the best American black metal bands out there now.
Send me a link?
