Umm I have no clue how to determine whether my SAT score is good or not. Damn new SAT. So i got a 1960....Any one know if this is acceptable or not??

well that converts to about a 1300 on the old SAT so...that's pretty good, congrats

They changed the scoring system?

And if that really is equivalent to a 1300, then you're as smart as me, and thats damn good.

Thanks everyone.... it's a relief. I go to school with a bunch of freaky smart 4.7 GPA asians. Tough competition....

on the old version of the sats i got a 1260 the first time. the second time it went down...

but woo a 1300 is good

and i'm just curious what is the new score out of? [like how the old one was out of 1600]

Is there anyway to tell what an old score would be on the new scoring system?

I know nothing about the new SAT, so if someone could tell me what a 1410 on the new one is, that'd be nice. :)

Yeah, they did change the SAT..took out the analogies, i believe, and replaced them with reading comprehension essays, if im not mistaken...

In seventh grade i got a 1000 on the original SATs...i'll post what i got now on the new ones when i take them, i havent yet...

Well on the new SAT the score is out of 2400 (with a total of 800 points rewarded for each section) They took out analogies, and added and essay and reading comp. In my opinion the essay is WAY easier than analogies.

it's a lot easier than it looks cause every other kid has that mindset...simple and straight to the point is the way to go about it.

I also think they made the math part a little harder...

yupp..as i stated before...and the analogies were wayy hard when i took them back in 7th...

I don't think there's anyway to do that cause they added a completely new section that the old SAT didn't have. I guess you could add your SAT II Writing score to the 1410 and it would be an okay rough estimate.

I actually did well on the analogies and sucked on the SAT II Writing, so I'm glad I didn't have to take the new one.

edited to add: But I did suck on the quantitive comparisons (A is greater, B is greater, they are equal, not enough info), so the new SAT takers are lucky they don't have to deal with that.

I was SO glad I didn't have to do that stuff. But yeah they made the math section through algebra 2 I think..and the old one was through algebra 1 I believe. I hate the SATs, I'm glad I'm not taking them again.

Ahhhh, pant, pant. I'm so afraid of the new SATs. I'm NOT prepared this year. I took classes and on a practice test I got in the 2000's but I think it's only because it's not the real one.


I bet it's way harder. I can't believe the English part was actually difficult. You think speaking it for 16 years would put some ease to it.

I've found that the practice tests are much harder than the actual test. I never broke out of the 400s in math on the practice and I got a 520 on the real one.

I got like 1520...which I guess is supposed to be like, around average. I guess.

Btw, college confidential is a great forum.I'll apply EA to Harvard and probably won't get in, and I'll also see how much scholarship is available at other schools. I'll probably end up going to Case Western if they give me a full scholarship.
