Thought we should have this up for everyone to discuss the 44th President of the United States, and the Inauguration ceremonies taking place tomorrow.

Although I don't agree with all of Obama's proposed policies, I see this day as history in the making. The inauguration of a President of African decent. He has inspired Americans like nobody before him, and I definitely wish him all the best.

Its a different system, and it took me awhile to get the hang of your electoral system. But the American primaries and general election were my Super Bowl this year. And I guess the Canadian election was my Grey Cup. (Canadian Football League Championship. Which no one pays that much attention to, because its terrible)

American politics is just so much more relevant. What Americans do very much affects what we do. ie. Your bailout to the auto industry was announced, and we followed suit with a similar offer (based on the capacity of our economy).

Plus, I believe your foreign policy is much more relevant than ours, and much more interesting.

DC Public schools are closed, as well as many of the county schools in the DC Metro area (including Montgomery County, Maryland, where I live). Federal government offices in the DC Metro area are closed as well. As for businesses, I'm not sure. That's because of us being the biggest power in the world for so long. Our decisions affect a whole lot of countries. I guess that's why more people pay attention to our politics than other countries.

Yeah, driving into DC is probably not the best idea. You could try driving down, parking your car at a Metro station, and taking the subway into the city. Unless you're in the city and staying in the city overnight, Metro's probably the best way to get there.

I love the Metro. Very clean, very easy to use. You're one lucky city.
