i swear i'm not in this band. they're just friends of mine/i'm a fan of theirs and i know this site isn't their scene but i think some users will dig their sound.

Arrangements are stale, vocals are rather painful, and lyrics are average at best.

The first song is like a slower more R & B version of Minus The Bear.

The second song sounds like Pepper.

Needless to say the first song is infinitely better.

Sounded the most like Incubus to me, but I can detect elements of all these bands.

none taken. with the exception of incubus, i don't listen to any of the bands i listed, but i know the guys in To the Ruins do. I can't really pinpoint any one band and say "they sound like this group" so i did my best to find some bands that i feel like have similar elements.

Understanadble. I honestly think EitS and Mogwai are the most boring post rock bands and the only Radiohead album I like fully through is HTTT, but people on here love EitS and Radiohead especially. :-d

As I said, those bands aren't my cup of tea either, but i really love this band, To the Ruins. i agree with you about some of the people on this site, but even more than that- they love to hate.
