does anyone else find this picture offensive, in poor taste, or just out there?

Barack Obama is no Abe Lincoln. He may be but I believe people should really wait instead of predicting him being the second coming of christ.

Isn't it more about the fact that Lincoln was supposedly black?

I think it's just out there. But I could also see how someone could be offended by it.

not sure, but I interpret it to be that he is the new abe lincoln. Seriously, I like the guy, but all the love-fest surrounding him (ie the paintings, pictures, and apparel) needs to stop. He's becoming more of a fashion trend each day.

Oh I agree, I voted for him but the over hyping of his Presidency is obviously a little too premature. I don't really understand the comparisons between them but I haven't been paying attention to politics since I left school for break really.

Obama always saying hope and change reminds me of that episode of family guy when Louis is running for mayor and in the debate all she has to say is simple words to attract voters. She was saying something along the lines of Jesus and then just said 9/11 and the crowd went crazy. Funny...yet true? hahah

Barack is neither God nor the devil, but tomorrow is going to make history and for good reason. But it's everybody together.

And why did you make an entire thread on this? Take it easy.

I don't really think offensive would be the word for it, even if you didn't agree with the comparison. The only person who could be offended is a racist Lincoln lover, which I doubt there are many of.

Not offensive, very premature though. Obama could actually turn out to be a shitty president, too - I wonder if people get that.

The irony of this pathetic attempt at comparing obama to abe, is that abe would have almost certainly been offended by it. And that many of his actions while president would be seen, if done today, as very bush-like and labeled 'fascist'. But ignorance of history is sort of the standard now.

I wonder this too. It became the fad to vote for him, which is entirely the wrong way to go about it. He's got the highest expectations and it'll be awfully tough to live up to them.

There is a certain number of people who vote for every president based on nothing substantial, at least Obama's was more because of how he energized people. I'd rather have people vote for that, because he at least had something to do with it, as opposed to something like a church just telling their attendees what to do.

That's true. I'll be honest, this is my first election I've ever really gotten into. It's just tough to know people vote on nothing, but what can you do about stupid people?

It was made because Barack Obama holds the some of the same veiws as Abe Lincoln, and Obama has pulled from Lincoln's past speeches and such.
People are speculating if President Obama will be our next Abraham Lincoln, but as many have said: Only time will tell.

i dont think people do. i voted for him, but people are celebrating as if all of a sudden all our problems are gone. the economy is still in the toliet, there are still thousands of people losing there jobs, and i think that most people need to give it time before they go ga ga for him.

Doesn't really bother me. To me it's just someone being very hopeful for him, and expecting big things.

I feel like that's exactly what this country needed. A president that was going to get people out, speak up, and get them hopeful/excited about our president. And that's exactly what he did. He has a shot to become a Lincoln, but that's something that we'll have to wait and see.

Isn't it a good thing to have high expectations for a president? With Bush, his second term was based solely on 9/11 and terrorism. People didn't really have many expectations from him that didn't have to do with that. I feel early in his second term, he just kinda chilled and let the war do it for him. Then people realized, OK there's other stuff going on.

I think it's simply ridiculous.

Lincoln is by far one of the 5 best Presidents we've ever had, whereas Obama has only been on office for 8 days.
