Hmmm, this is something I wrote a while back. You might like it, you might not, but it's me. Sorry if it's long... it's a 9+ minute song.
Treefall
We planted these trees to save us from days when air runs dry
And I? I pass the time in forests, safe and dark, where birds have lost their will to fly.
And I fall like the astronaut, I can't land.
I'm not coming home to your arms this way.
And I know you're safe below, and I want to see your face,
But I've grown cold with space.
[Chorus]
I remember the day that I fell away,
I remember the hour, your words so sour
You said "I'm colder than winter."
But I, I wanted to be your summer's breeze.
So here we are, we're looking for the falling stars
But don't you know that they're just failing light
Like the sun, they go down each night.
I'm sorry moon, I'm never wishing on you.
No, you're waxing and waning and we're all just fading away.
And you fall like the paralyzed,
You wanna stand but you're afraid to try,
Well maybe this time when I catch you,
You can feel your arms in mine
And remember all the times we traced the lines from cover to cover
To find our true colors, dark and light...
Black and white, oh black and white.
[Chorus again]
I watched the world end, but you survived
You and I survived...
But we refused to fall in love, 'cus that's what children do.
But we grew... to hate the days, when winds swept us away under the waves...
And I won't breathe until you do
'Cus what if you drown? Who will save you?
And I'll be all alone in paradise to burn away the days.
Oh, the days, I'm counting the days.
Well maybe I was born blind,
And I just never learned to speak.
And everything my hands say,
I just lost in translation... in translation.
You're my oasis in Eden,
My shade in dark of night.
You're the last words on my lips
As I give up the fight.
And all the trees have lost their leaves,
I'm waking from a solemn dream.
Opening my tired eyes in time
I think I might realize why I'm still alive.
Well maybe this time when I catch you (echo)
Maybe this time when you catch me (echo)
Well maybe this time when I catch you
I can trade my arms for eyes...
And see hazel (and blue eyes)
Hazel, you're staring back at me.
