its where major labels "buy out" "indie" labels like Atlantic Records pretty much owns Fueled by Ramen

ATlantic records will sign a band to a huge major label deal, ie: Paramore, to a HUGE major label deal (huge advances, ads in every magazine, banners on internet sites like this one and purevolume) and front them on little labels like FBR so they seem legit and to build "cred'. major A&Rs dont want cases like good charlotte and simple plan where the only fans they get last for 6 months or a year and make them loose money.

you may remember UPSTREAMING if you remember everyband from DTR and doghouse moving up to the major counterpart, but now, a bunch of bands are full of shit and fronting like they are legit with these huge wallets which is complete oppisite of the old days when NFG struggled and got bumped up because of how good they are. hence DOWNSTREAMING.

most bands are downstreamed.. doesn't matter -- to me: music is music, talent is talent, I don't care where it gets put out, or if anyone is trying to trick kids into thinking something is indie. the fact that kids need to be tricked is what's sad ... like what you like for being real - it's the made up, given an image, given a bunch of songwriters that bother me.

Ohhh the recording industry is taking a page from the Modest Mouse adventures in record labels.

If its good, why does it matter what label its on?

That's right it doesn't...thanks for playing.

no that was upstreaming
No, DTR had no choice in what Geffen/MCR did which is why they were so happy when their contract ended.

cause its a crock, lets take a band that gets a huge sum of money and make them look poor so their fans relate and stick with them when they are in a tour bus and a novelty in a year. thats cool if you buy into bull shit
