bands that sound like this? I'm not trying to group them all the same or be technical, but I'm going for more of that atmospheric, ambient, experimental like sound. I can't really explain it. And sorry if this isn't necessarily where it belongs.

Bands like...

Wolves in the Throne Room
Lurker of Chalice
Xasthur
Ulver
1000 Funerals(atmospheric doom metal)
Drudkh
Or...Agalloch maybe even.
And maybe Amesoeurs/Alcest/Forgotten Woodsish maybe, a lot of Neige's side projects I guess too.

That'd be awesome. Or just recommend me anything you think I might like, doom metal even, etc. Thanks. :-)

I've never heard of even 1 of these bands. Maybe I should start expanding my musical horizon....

Fall of Efrafa maybe?

Post-rock doom crust hardcore metal. Check em out. They've released two albums, and the third is going to be out in a few months probably.. european band, and the three albums will be a concept trilogy based on the political overtones of the book Watership Down. Their lyrics + explanation of lyrics are on their webpage haha.

True.

But Earth is also a great one to check out. Their album from last year was extremely solid.

Made Honey in the Bee's Skull or whatever right? It was decent.

I forgot to mention, DilesMavis, you might also like

Grief
Thou
Old Man Gloom

All three are sludge metal but kinda atmospheric in my opinion.

Not sure it's 100% what you're after but if you want atmospheric give Devil Sold His Soul a good ol' listen.

Did you listen to Fall of Efrafa yet? I'm loving that CD so much. That, Brainworms, and Swamp Thing revived my faith in heavier music haha

I was a big fan of Earth for a while. I think the first time I remember hearing about them was when I was 13, at some chess chat room? Haha, nostalgic moment. Anyway yeah great band. Took me a little while to get into Sunn which I thought was odd, they're great as well though. Boris is good. The rest I've heard of except but haven't listened much to. I'll definitely get on that though and download. I'll tell you what I think! Thanks so much.

Thanks but I can't really find much on them?

Ah awesome! I've heard of them, never listened though. Thanks, I will. They sound pretty interesting.

Kinda like Grief. Love Thou. Good band. Heard a few songs by OMG but forgot about them. I think I meant to put them on my ipod a while ago and forgot or something. So thanks.

Hahaha. Good answer. My Journey to the Stars <333

minsk is the most underrated band on the Relapse roster. Could argue that they are even the best.

Terry Riley might be worth looking into. While he's primarily known as a minimalist composer, his influence seeps into Stars Of The Lid's aesthetic so you might enjoy. Listen to Fennesz and Port Royal too, just because they're good.

I've heard about Port Royal, but never anything from you about them. I guess I'll finally have to check them out.

Also, Abbasi Brothers are working their way up my EOTY list if I were to revise it now. Definite top 10.

I can easily see you digging Port Royal and Terry Riley for that matter.

Listened to Music for 18 Musicians all the way through today in one sitting (been awhile since I had done it). Blows my mind every time.

One of those albums I couldn't possibly turn off halfway if I tried. Anyway, I should stop derailing this girl's thread.

Can't argue with that, although my guess is she's already given him a try.
