how amazing were the 90s for music?! there was some really amazing songs/albums that came out in the 90s, and some really fucking terrible stuff. let's pay tribute to the music we grew up listening to!
i remember being in like 5th and 6th grade through junior high school, always setting my VCR to record VH1's Top 10 Countdown every morning before going to school. and all day i would be excited to get home and watch it. before TRL, this is what i'd do every morning.
what were some of your favorite songs/guilty pleasures/albums/bands/etc etc etc?
some of my favorites were:
third eye blind - semi charmed life
the verve - bittersweet symphony (my little brother and i used to always re-enact the music video, crashing into each other)
hanson - mmmbop
annie lennox - no more i love yous
sugar ray - fly
everclear - everything to everyone (everclear became my favorite band after i heard this)
donna lewis - i love you always forever
shit, there were so many good ones that i can't even type as fast as i think of them. haha

Back than I loved Weezer and stuff like Tracy Chapman.
best decade ever. full house ruled my life.

I wasn't old enough to appreciate anything coming out at the time that was actually good. My dad was a big Radiohead fan however.

NIRVANA!!!!!!!!!!!!! come on guys they're like legendary I'm amazed no one's mentioned them yet...
Jeff Buckley is also amazing... A soulful voice with the intricate guitar of Michael Tighe's guitar - what more can you want?

The 90s was such a great decade. So much of the stuff I remember as a child (Britpop, Trip-Hop, 90s popular Dance music in general, etc.) is still amazing today, and not in the "haha guilty pleasure" way (although Spice World and all that was good). Probably my favorite decade, period, really. My top 10 90s albums:
1. Daft Punk - Homework
2. Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
3. Blur - Parklife
4. Pulp - Different Class
5. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
6. Mono - Formica Blues (the Trip-Hop Mono, not the Post-Rock one)
7. Rufus Wainwright - Rufus Wainwright
8. Les Savy Fav - The Cat and the Cobra
9. Les Rythmes Digitales - Darkdancer (most underrated album of the 90s?)
10. Portishead - Dummy

Laughing Stock
I See A Darkness

Spice Girls of course!! What? I was like 8ish when I liked them.
Haha. I don't remember a lot of music in the 90s. I was 10 when 2000 hit and I didn't appreciate music like I do now.
But hey...I DO miss a lot of the 90s. Thank God they still play Saved By The Bell. I would be lost without it.
I mainly miss when tv actually played GOOD shows. They actually had good cartoons on....not like this garbage they play.
WOW. I'm totally RAMBLING.OOPS.

if i could go back in time with the music knowledge i have now, i would have told myself to listen to American Football, Mineral, The Promise Ring, etc etc etc in the 90s, and see them all live before they broke up. dammit! and i would have gone to a lot of other shows too. i wish i saw Blink 182 at warped tour...
but yeah, the 90s were so amazing. not only did the music rule, but kickass movies came out too: Ninja Turtles 1 & 2, bio dome, dumb and dumber, hook, etc.
