Went with The Departed, though I have only seen a handful of these films. Departed, however is the only one that I could really watch over and over.

That's what I figured, just wasn't sure as to why he emphasized the selection.
Either way, it was a tough choice that boiled down to Goodfellas and The Departed, but I went with the latter.

he didnt leave out documentaries, just random ones. The Last Waltz would definitely fall into the documentary category.

I left out the ones I hadn't heard of, and wasn't No Direction Home a tv special?
So, so hard. No one said The Aviator I think but I really liked that. But also loved The Departed, Goodfellas and Taxi Driver. However I've seen The Departed like 5 times so I'm gonna go with that one.

QFT It's cinematic equivalent of a cover version. It has to be Goodfellas from Raging Bull and Taxi Driver.
