this. best production, best composition, i cant say best lyrics cause JEW's lyrics really arent ever impressive but no doubt their most well-written music and im my opinion their catchiest and most emotionally engaging material. the atmosphere in the mixing and mastering is a real key component and that makes it probably one of the only radio-polished albums where i can say the production stood out and i really loved it. otherwise i tend to prefer mixing/mastering jobs that are between hi-fi and low-fi, and break a few rules and make up some original rules.

I see a lot of Bon Iver intermingled with Brand New, Say Anything and Jack's Mannequin album picks. Is he the new Elliot Smith/Conor Oberst of the scenesterisa crowd? If so, it's a step up (Oberst and Smith are capable, but nothing more).
EDIT - Well, when he's being jocked by Myspace, I suppose this is a silly thing to ask. Ha.

For Emma is better than anything either Smith or Oberst has done in album form. Though, if you combined bits and pieces of Fevers and Mirrors, LIFTED, and A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997, you have a viable collection of songs from Oberst (Smith is good, but never released something transcendent of "good." Oberst has released wildly uneven albums that amount of something good if combined, Iver released a nearly-great album).

Usually goes hand-in-hand. Narcissistic Personality Disorder dictates that one essentially loathes themselves or has virtually no sense of self-worth, so they have to supplement it by constantly talking about nothing themselves in hopes of getting feedback so that they can gauge who they are in relation to how others perceive them.
Some of the most self-loathing of artists are typically the most introspective and self-indulgent; relating the world through their limited sense of personal ideologies.
