Why lock? Last night the thread was raging, now it's gone. Was it deleted? And why? I thought leak threads are fair game.

That's what I thought as well

I missed out on the old thread so are there any shows planned. This group combines the best of STD and Say Anything and I think I might like them better. I can haz info on shows plz?

The only downside so far to this album is that it feels like it could have been fleshed out a bit more. Seems like they just jammed and recorded it quick. It's still pretty good though, not as good as Say Anything, but definitely catchy enough for repeat listens.

The only downside to this album is that you could be listening to Saves the Day instead.

I've been listening to Under the Boards a lot the past week. That is a really good, underrated album.
What's the verdict on this album?

Wow. Amazing!
Tremors and Wowee Zowee are my favorites.
Terrible.
To be fair, is it because you're into a different genre? Or were you anticipating it and it turned out to be a letdown?

I thought it was accent grave, not aigu.

I think the album is short and fun. Not much depth lyrically and the vocals seldom work together. Conley's voice has gotten out of control whiny. It's got some alright tracks, but overrall very mehh

Not Impressed with this at all. Thought i would like it better being that i like a Say Anything album (Is a Real Boy) and a Saves the Day album (SWYA) but i guess not.

After three listens, I find it to be very pleasant. I'm glad I like it, the disappointment might've crushed me...
However, Conley's voice does sound a bit off sometimes and I wish they would've paid a LOT more attention to the lyrics (but I guess both Max and Chris are saving the good stuff for their real bands).

Or he should just do it without Conley

I would've bought this if it came with a two hour dvd of Max Bemis and Chris Conley making out.
after a couple listens, I can't say im disappointed. im also not blown away. which, coincidentally, is a disappointment. i think it lacks much more lyrically than musically, which usually doesnt bug me too much, but the whole "two lead vocalists from two of my favorite bands" thing makes me more prone to look a little deeper into the lyrics. I wish the whole album hit as hard as "crawl" does.

Ironic since SWYA is better than anything Say Anything has ever done.

My point being that somethings you just know, although someone may like and listen to a band like Jimmy Eat World's music more than The Beatles, you still have to know that The Beatles are the better band.

not anywhere if you want to be intelligent. You simply cannot objectively compare two bands that existed in two completely different time periods. You can say "look at all the beatles did for music, that's amazing", but one could easily say that JEW doesn't exactly have the opportunity to be as innovative as the beatles did.

It was just an example. Bob Dylan is better than Johnny Cash, any better?

You can't make objective claims about music without objective standards of judgment. What are they?

But this has nothing to do with you saying Stay What You Are is better than ...is A Real Boy. You can't objectively say that. That's an opinion

I wont break down every aspect by which i judge an artist but in general: technique (playing a note, tone, etc.), expression (how does the music speak to you and does the artist get everything out of it possible), what purpose does the music serve and does it accomplish that goal. With those two you could also include cultural impact. I wasn't trying to start an argument over it my point was that some things you just know and are accepted to be true.

all of those are highly subjective. I don't accept anything to be true. like yeah, i think the beatles are better than jimmy eat world but I wouldn't say they're as good as any of my favorite bands even though they obviously made a bigger cultural impact.

That is an opinion, yes. I thought you were saying how everything in music is subject to taste and my point was that somethings, no matter your taste, you just know and are accepted as such.

It's not generally known that SWYA is better than ...is a Real boy? This is not "accepted as such"

I already said that was an opinion, i was saying that you were right about that being my opinion. I was talking in generality in the last few posts that some things are just known no matter what music you like. For example, i am not a huge fan of Led Zeppelin but i don't doubt the impact they had and that their music is generally accepted as being good by any standards.

It's not a "bad" record by all means. It's just not blowing everyone away like (I) thought it would

See I'm not a huge fan of either band. I like both, but I'm not a fanatic about either. So I'm hoping that means I'll enjoy the record more considering the fact I'm not expecting constant epic-ness.

i don't understand all the hate for the "every man has a molly" cover by chris conley... my roommate said it was "unlistenable" and that seemed to be the general consensus on AP, as well... i think it's better than max's cover.

I really don't see why so many people dislike this record.
I think it's pretty good and has some great songs on it.
