I haven’t seen any recent “roommate” threads on here, and when I searched it the threads, they were all old.

I am sure I am not the only one who has issues with their roommate(s). So lets discuss stories about our roommates, issues, problems, etc.

Not sure how successful this thread will be, but I have been debating about making it for a while. (I assumed that personal life was the best fit for this.)

Current issue: How do you politely ask your roommate to chew her gum with her mouth closed? Honestly, it is so fucking annoying. You know how when you’re sitting next to someone and you can hear them chewing their gum? Welcome to my life. I know this is a stupid dilemma (if you would even call it that), but honestly how do you approach the situation? I have tried to tune out the noise with my iPod, but it doesn’t work. It is so distracting, and just plain disgusting. I have a feeling if I just ask she would get super pissy and offended, she is moody like that.

Just tell her straight out. Just don't try to sound so mean about it.

I've only had bad roommates because I haven't told them what issues I had with them.

it's already been said, but say something about it. because you can't fault the other person for something if you aren't speaking up. he probably doesn't even know he's annoying you.

I will NEVER be able to handle having a roomate in college, I don't know what I'm going to do. Like I hate 9/10 girls, i'm so fucked.

i agree on both accounts. Hearing people chew completely grosses me out. and Girl roommates are horrible. The best is living with gay guys. I lived with 3, they were AMAZING compared to living with stupid bitch girls.

have you considered living in a single? i'm not sure if the college you are going to offers them or not, but it is something to think about.

If my college offers living single for freshmen, i will be all over that. i dont need some girls skanky germs all up in my room. i have weird living habits she couldn't handle.

I used to have the worst roomate ever...once, he came home at 3 AM on a Tuesday morning tripping balls. He started to play guitar hero (mind you I was on the couch) while I was trying to sleep.

Also, not to be prejudice, but my roommate is a ginger. We don't have any problems though. He actually goes to bed pretty early so I have to wear headphones when listening to music, but we do watch Heroes and the Colbert Report together.

Today I confronted all 4 of my roommates about cleaning up after themselves. I know I probably come off as a Nazi and they probably hate me and talk shit about me behind my back, but they always listen to me. Its not like I am always on them, but our house has looked like a disaster lately, and after I saw a mouse run across the kitchen counter dodging in and out of dirty dishes I kind of flipped and told them that when I got back from class I was going to throw everything away that wasnt where it was supposed to be. And of course when I got back, it was kinda clean, so I just went ahead and did the rest of the cleaning to match my standards. But I just came up from downstairs, and by this point (its been like 6 hours) the living room is already filled with weed stems and seeds, dirty ass bongs, and empty taco bell cups. I just hate living with stoners, they are so filthy and they dont give a damn about anything.

lol, I used to live with this girl who had hair the exact same color of mine so we were able to convince alot of people that we were brothers and sister. But then one day we started hooking up and apparently some people never got the memo that we were jk about the brother sister thing and they flipped out because they thought we had some crazy incest shit going on in our house.

But, now I usually have my triple (the biggest room on campus) to myself on weekends and life is very, very good.

Well, I'm in a hall primarliy composed of freshman so the rules and supervisions are pretty fucking tight. But, loosely speaking, the triple is never a one-man stay.

I dont really smoke anymore. I used to be a huge stoner, but I gave that up a little over a year ago. And the thing is, I was never a sloppy stoner like these stereotypes that Im living with.
