This is awesome.
Having some good shows ten minutes from my house would be rad. Looking at who they have so far, it seems like they'll be having the same size shows as they do at The Downtown on LI. No more two hour drives for me.

Obsessions used to suck real hard. Hope the 'new management' puts a better foot forward.

Starland's a good comparison...it's big enough and i'm sure it'll sell out with some killer shows.

The place holds 750 people. Not as big as Starland but it's still pretty big.

its like a lil bigger than the krome lounge, but with the ceiling height of the krome main room, and a stage slightly less deep but just as long as the krome main room stage. its pretty good, and shows will be run on the basic same ways all our other shows are run. if you have input, we'd love to hear it

Ugh. I'm not an Obcessions fan. I too, was there for the SKSK, Sleeping, and TREOS show and it didn't seem to have air-conditioning. They also have these tables in one corner that seem to be trouble. It's a big stage though, which is nice. None the less, yea for another Jersey Venue!
They also charged two dollars for a plastic cup of water; no bottles of water available. Last time I checked this was illegal.

Hey, excessdb, how much are shows going to be (specifically Bane/Comeback Kid)?

i live in randolph. go figure the venue gets hooked up with a good promoter right when i leave for college (boston). whatever haha. also- just because they have air conditioning doesn't mean they use it or that it works well when they use it. the owner of that place is a sleezebag anyway, but what is goood now is bands can deal with excess db instead of bill.

too bad this venue is utterly terrible.

its not utterly terrible. and out of the options left in NJ for midlevel shows, it is a solid choice.

This place is like in the woods.
When i went to the Receiving show there, I swore with a name like "Obsessions", it was gonna be a strip joint (which would have just been awesome)
+ I thought the club was great as long as they have the back part behind the open for some place to sit, breathe and chill. it was much cooler up there. stage is perfect. sound in there is great. doesn't sound muddy.
- instead of getting a (dinky) cup of water for $2, i asked the bartender for just a cup of ice to cool me down. she still had to charge me $2....for a plastic cup of ice. if this is the way it's gonna be...i'll know next time to bring provisions.
i like this place better than krome. and Receiving End of Sirens tore the roof off the place. amazing.

i think what happened with that was they didn't really believe me that a bunch of kids were going to come, and ran out of water for a little while during the show. but yea, i'll make sure they have bottles of water stocked well for these coming shows!
