So, where does everyone get their "unique" and "original" titles from?

I get a lot of mine from dialogue from Alfred Hitchcock movies.
"Tell Me About The Carrot"
"It's My Finger Size"
"You Shouldn't Keep Souvenirs Of A Killing"

Movies, Books, Lines in songs even(not the one you're writing that's LAME)
but sometimes I just think up cool shit.
like "I'm going on a map quest"
My brain is just kinda retarded. Sometimes a word just pops up that I like, and I decide to use it as a song title and then write a song around it... sometimes I write one line of a song, and then write everything else around it... Example song titles:
Temporal, Wanderlust, Treefall, Mellowdrama, Left of Center, Wings Long Severed (drastically emo!! old days...), Analog... I think it's mostly one word titles now. They're easier to remember.

well, i don't think of song titles... or song lyrics... they just suddenly pop into my head... i cannot just start writing something... what happens is i'll be doing nothing and i will see this little bird cooing and it tells me what to write... very strange shit...

same here, if I ever TRY to sit down and write... it comes out like shit.
Then again even when it pops into my head it's shit.

Haha same here. I'm talked with an established poet about writing stuff and she said it's rare that anyone can force it and make it good. She just goes about her life and if she thinks up something, she'll scribble it on a napkin or a receipt or something and put it in her pocket and at the end of the day she writes them all down somewhere. I basically do the same thing. I'll go months without writing a single line and then write 4 songs in one week, they just seem to flow sometimes. And I usually hate everything I've written about six months after I've written it.

I like using the subject of the song, but not like a line from it. Like I wrote a song awhile ago, about one of my friends and how we had grown apart. A memory I had of her was she was a big harry potter fan, and she wanted to audition to be herminie for the movie. So I named the song the ballad of herminie, although its not really a ballad at all. Infact it was quite the opposite.

That's what I do too. I use a song title kind of as a title to a book or a story. Since it's usually pretty hard to tell exactly what I'm talking about in my lyrics, the title kind of brings it all into perspective.
