View Full Version : So I saw Green Day last night

-There were an ungodly amount of small children there with their parents...and when I say small children, i'm talking under 10 years old...Now, maybe i'm a stick in the mud, but what on earth are these people doing taking their children to a rock concert? I mean I know Green Day isn't Slipknot or anything, but it's not exactly the place i'd want to bring my kid...Ironically, I took my mom

-Then again, real rock shows don't have vendors walking up and down the aisles selling super ropes

-The show itself was good, although if you've seen the guys at any point during the last 3 years, you know exactly what to expect...I love this band, I always will, I just wish they would switch things up...Their energy level, however, was the highest i've ever seen it

-JEW was disappointing...I don't think it was their fault though, their act just does not translate into an arena environment well at all...Plus, one song from Clarity does not make me a happy panda, but I didn't expect anything otherwise

I'm not complaining about them. I'm complaining about hearing about them too much. I personally like the band.

I remember when Travis Barker got his ass kicked in Cuyahoga Falls and got his hand fucked up even more.

I've still never seen Green Day, JEW, or Blink. I probably never will now because it costs $572 for a ticket nowadays. Boy, it makes me yearn for the good ol' days when you'd pay a nickel to watch them play in a hay barn with your best gal.

hahaha. The only band I have seen on your list is Blink, but I'm glad seeing as they might never play as a band again.

To the thread starter, did Green Day play a good mix of old and new songs?

Eh, I think the kids are old enough to see Green Day. I saw my first concert when I was 10, and it was the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and they are just a tad wilder than Green Day.

Yeah, I still want to see all three of those, even though had I'd seen Blink in the last year it wouldn't have been the songs I wanted to hear.

JEW is much better in more intimate venue than anything they'd get playing with Green Day.

I won't see Green Day until they come back to planet Earth and realize they shouldn't try to be a political band.

I know, same here. If JEW came here though, I'd pay more than $100 for a ticket if I had to. that's how much I want to see them.

I'm not complaining about them. I'm complaining about hearing about them too much. I personally like the band.same here. but i do understand why people hate them--they're overrated a lot. like as much as i enjoyed American Idiot..it's not some genius-concept album-rock opera-punk revolution like every critic makes it out to be.

i'm seeing em in September..i'll probably see some dumbasses with Hawthorne Heights shirts, but i at least hope it's not full of little kids like you said

because a band that put out an album named "kerplunk" followed by an album named "dookie" has no business putting out a concept album.

see, I don't hate Green Day. I have all their records up to American Idiot. But I don't buy it, when it becomes popular to be political, that a band made that choice because that's who they are all of a sudden. When for years they were nothing even close. So insincere and disingenuous.

When i saw J.E.W they played 5 off clarity, 5 off bleed American, 5 off futures and one off static prevails. Tres good.

I saw Greenday at Reading last year, great performance eventhough i'm not their hugest fan. Also, i saw Blink on their last tour, they were good, but there was something about it that left me not quite satisfied.

o well, i guess. they've been really popular before that though. Dookie is what really made em famous.

What song off clarity did they play?
They played Lucky Denver Mint.

Now I understand it was a Green Day show, but I was hoping for more than thirty-two minutes of Jimmy Eat World.

To the thread starter, did Green Day play a good mix of old and new songs?
Pretty good mix. King For A Day was absolutely amazing, they played the classic radio songs, and five or so (I'm not for sure) A.I. songs. Along with others, but yeah.

There were FAR too many little kids. Not to mention 50% of the people there (not an exaggeration) were wearing shirts they just bought/shirts they bought from the last tour. It was funny...

One thing to note about Green Day's set: they have a lot of money, and they certainly utilize it. Haha. It was my first time seeing them, and it was full of surprises. I was impressed.

As for JEW, I enjoyed the set (aside from how short it was). I think the major drawback was the lack of crowd movement/participation. Again, I understand it was a GD show, so that is who everyone was waiting for...but I was disappointed in that.

I was really disappointed that they only played a half hour. I know they were the openers, but I was still expecting more than 30 minutes. Even though the crowd wasn't really into them, I thought they put on a good show.

Yeah I was really expecting alot more than that, especially considering they were the only opening band

when i saw green day with the get up kids a few years back, they played for over an hour...and the crowd was really into it, i miss those days...the kids last night were too busy trying to talk on their fucking cell phones to pay attention to JEW
