We are all in different places
Reciting wisdom that we stole from somewhere else,
Maybe from where we were before the snow.
Tomorrow we might eat
If we are hungry
Or if we're broke we might smoke
And feel profound.
Our ash will mark where we were
So we don't forget
And can continue on
With deep footprints
Until the dead grass peeks through
And we don't have to be lost anymore.
Reciting wisdom that we stole from somewhere else,
Maybe from where we were before the snow.
Tomorrow we might eat
If we are hungry
Or if we're broke we might smoke
And feel profound.
Our ash will mark where we were
So we don't forget
And can continue on
With deep footprints
Until the dead grass peeks through
And we don't have to be lost anymore.
