Tough choice, but 2003 by far.

How can there be a clear winner when something is a tough choice?
Because I was thinking of everything that came out in 2003 and comparing it to other stuff that came out in the other years. In the end, I realized that some of my favorite albums came out in 2003.

None of those are good albums.
3 actually worthwhile pop-punk albums and death cab's best album
/response that still won't sway your opinion at all
but really if you're going to say a year you should represent more than one type of music to support your point.

Off the top of my head I remember liking a lot of stuff that came out around 2000, but when I look at some lists I like 2003 as well. Really, I can't stay because I wasn't as into music for much of the 2000s.

2003 for me, lots of good releases even besides the huge amount of worthwhile pop punk that came out that year.

Ha, yeah that's not it. He just likes to argue a lot. Personally, I find many of his posts to be good reads.

I picked 2003. Lots of my favorite releases were from that year. Hopefully 2009 will be right up there, as there are countless records I am unbelievably excited for.

He just doesn't like a vast majority of the stuff that people here do which is why people are always arguing with him

Yes I spend a lot of my time running a music website without actually liking music. I think what you meant to say is I'm convinced that dude doesn't like the horrendous shit my 15 year old self listens to. In which case you would be correct.
See what I mean? Can you make a point without being an ass? I wasn't trying to be mean to you, just chill.

Eh... I wasn't trying to say those were why everyone should definitively consider it the best year for music. I was just using those to display why it was my, in my opinion, the best year in music for this decade. Eh it's the intrawebz...

Tough, but I went with 03. Also I guess I'm alone in thinking that 08 was a great year.

i voted for 08 because thats when i started listening to things outside of the metalcore/hardcore realm, so its sort of a vote for the year i discovered better music if that makes sense.
i think mr.mealforthesky likes music quite a bit, he just enjoys instigating arguments a lot more.

Of all my favorites of the decade, 2006 had the most:
The Thermals -- The Body, The Blood, The Machine
Joanna Newsom -- Ys
Liars -- Drums Not Dead
M. Ward -- Post-War
Fionn Regan -- The End of History
Vijay Iyer and Rudresh Mahanthappa -- Raw Materials
Camera Obscura -- Let's Get Out of This Country
TV on the Radio -- Return to Cookie Mountain
Bob Dylan -- Modern Times
The Hold Steady -- Boys and Girls in America
The Decemberists -- The Crane Wife
Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins -- Rabbit Fur Coat
Sonic Youth -- Rather Ripped
Yeah, I was happy with 2006.
