Lol Blake , im sorry but i think this review is dumb bad... This is without a doubt there best album , the breakdowns are 10x as better and his vocals sound better on Homesick rather then FTWHH , its a great opener with The Downfall Of Us All and an amazing finish If it means alot to you

Personally this album is one of my favorite of the year. Definitely worth checking out.

Compared to a lot of bands, A Day To Remember has such a unique sound that feels refreshing. It has the energy I've been looking for and this band has successfully fused the edgy hardcore and pop genre almost seamlessly. The melodies and hooks Jeremy comes up with get stuck in my head for days at a time. The recordings are very clean and i liked the clever tricks they placed such as the phone dying sound effect in "You Already Know What You Are" or the gang vocals in "The Downfall of Us All." I'm also a person that loves breakdowns and i anticipate hearing it during the bridge/end. Each song transitions well into the next; they have a formula for writing their music that works for me and i'm not getting tired of it. No complaints.

As far as content the themes and messages in their lyrics are very personal which makes this band's music much richer. You get a sense of their journey as a band, perseverance, and following their dreams when nobody believed in them.

Do not agree with this one.

the only song i like off this album is "If It Means A lot To You" sweet cheesy acoustic song with Sierra Kusterbeck's voice made it ten times better.

personally i find their repetitiveness to be awesome. Every song does not sound the same and at least they've got some heart to their songs.
Why does someone have to dive into the lyrics on the first listen of a new album?Listen to each song separately and then piece your review together by each song rather than just flying through the record and noticing each song sounds the same. Sorry to say but most songs on every album sound the same

homesick and old record are the only amazing releases from adtr.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HEART SUCKS.

haha, things got bizarre in here
I just read all 35 pages. Yeesh, what a read!

My friend recommended I listen to this. I enjoy the opening track, "The Downfall Of Us All" but the rest of the songs use the same formula over and over. And I know what you mean about the "over-mouthed" la-la's on the last track, Blake. Flippin' annoying!

I enjoy for those who have heart for the most part. But if a band is just reinventing the wheel, at least it should be a good wheel

i do really like this band and i bet if they had did something really different you all will be like ''why they change this sound?'' its their sound thats why you like them, if u wanna hear something different go listen another band dont u think so?
this band deserves a better review than this
thats my 2 cents
sorry if i had some mistakes
not used to this language :P
I agree with this totally, f you dont like the sound of a band, well maybe you don't like the band, maybe you shouldn't listen to them. I love the style of music that ADTR plays, I don't think that a band needs to constantly change their sound.

i do enjoy this record. i agree that some of the songs sound exactly alike. i find myself sometimes yelling out "This is a battleground!" during the breakdown of "Mr. Highway's Thinking about the End" but i still enjoy it. i think that ADTR has perfected the genre.

Review is fine. It may be a little harsh but that's Blake giving his opinion, which is what he's meant to do haha.

The album itself is a mixed bag. I can listen to it quite happily but it always leaves me wanting something more meaningful. Have Faith In Me is an exception - I love that song. The rest of the tracks are liable to just blend together though.

Probably because I discovered homesick, then for those who have heart, but I really enjoy both records, they didn't really change their sound at all, but I think that's a good thing. I think you have to judge each record by itself, not the bands entire career on each record, I loved it and I think a lot of people do.

If any band should just release EP’s, it’s A Day to Remember.
This. The band has some really good songs, in my opinion, but the rest is just painful filler shit.

How could you possibly review this album that low? Maybe if you stopped trying to tell so many jokes during your review and actually listen to the album you might change that 48 it may sound similar to FTWHH but they are still the best and what they do and deserve a higher rating.

Let's be honest:

This 'review' has no main focus what-so-ever.

Bands do not use 'trickery' to get you hooked into the music. It is called: "Great song writing capabilities."

You cannot critique, bash, and make negative comments to any albums on this website due to the fact you have the worst grammar of all time.

A Day To Remember's new cd: "Homesick" is a good cd. Whether or not you like hardcore music or not, there is a reason the cd is making the impact is has.

And how can you comment on an artist's lyrics? Lyrics are a form of expression no matter what is being said. It is not a matter of being 'cheesy' it a matter of writing what he feels.

Pick up a guitar, recruit four members, write a song good enough to get 12,000,000 views in a twelve months, and once you are done touring the country for the next year, shoot me back a message telling me how much of a dumbass you feel.

Here is my review: "HOMESICK" is a great album to buy. I have been listening to it ever since it came out.

ADTR is not hardcore.

i heard a few songs from this band and decided to check out all three albums. i then burned all three albums onto one CD and whenever i listen to it, i cannot differenciate between each album.

i loved this album i think it was amazing and it truly showed an outbreak for A day to remember
it really bothers me the way you constructed your review
do you have something againt Jeremy he is an amazing vocalist and im sure by far he beats you at singing
to me i think people have no rights to criticize others
i am doing an article in my computer class that involves me to research the reviews on this album when i saw yours i had to make an account so i could vent about my feelings because it made me that mad. not only is A day to remembers songs put together so they have just the right feelings hidden in them and the lyrics are so truly captivating have faith in me was not at all cheesy but truly coming from the heart it was one of my favorites on the album and overall people who know anything about relationships could relate to this song. If it means a lot to you blew me away and i instantly fell in love with this song the downfall of us all pumps me up and i think it would do that to many others, a day to remember deserves so much more credit than you are giving them you shouldnt be able to do reviews on music if you know nothing about which clearly you dont. maybe you should get your eyes drained of fluid or somethingg, you owe this band an apology and all of these people who strayed away from the album because of your review!

I think ADTR needs to stick more with their original sound, FTWHH was heavier and more raw, they've cleaned up, got repetitive and are now the love of so many little scene girls. Don't get me wrong, I really like ADTR, but overrated is definitely the right word to describe them.

Meh, I know it's not a compelling album, but it's fun to listen to. Not all music has to be life-changing. I just want to mosh to the breakdowns, and so I shall. :D

Even though this album is very repetitive it was still catchy, with some good breakdowns thrown in, it really hooked me, and thats the point of an album in some way. I think they are just good song writers

This is by far my favorite record of all time. I can literally play this album and all of their other albums and never get sick of them. I feel that they did make some leaps in this album as they pumped out 2 of their most hard-core sounding songs here...am I right? The moment I heard this band I was hooked....and to be honest I got into Homesick first before their old stuff. Once I got done with Homesick...or so I thought I moved onto their older albums. Now I am back listening to Homesick, which to me is the best of all. I can listen to any song and instantly call out the record it was on...but when you listen to a band as much as I do these guys it would almost be sad if I couldn't accomplish that feat. Their new album is going to be the most anticipated of 2010 for me and I'm sure its going to be straight beastmode. I hear people saying everything sounds the same and I just dont get it....to me it just doesn't. As some here have already said to each his own...and I certainly have my own here in particular. I will continue to bump homesick until their new album comes out and it has easily got the most play of any album I have ever owned period. Blake, your reviews are great and as a critic I can understand that you have to find something to pick at...but come on, tell me you weren't jammin this album for at least a few days...in my case months on end

Most people I know who are fans of ADTR know the band by this record. This, to me, is a shame, because, as much as I enjoy this record, the best one they've ever made is "For Those Who Heart". Although, this comment is coming from a fan who hasn't listened to "And Their Name Was Treason", "Old Record" nor "What Seperates Me From You" all the way through [yet].

(I know im years late here...but whatever).

I dont get it. why does every album have to be so "different souding" to be good? Why do fans always expect bands to change their sound every time to come out with a new album!? I truly dont understand this review. I can confidently say I have pretty good taste in music, and for people looking for this kind of sound, ADTR's album will quench your thirst. This album has what ppl who came to love this band wants...raunchy sound, but still catchy. theres still a hint of that emoness that i think people like...but it sounds more mature. I donno its just me. I dont get why ppl have to make it sound like they know "the perfect album" sounds like...

I won’t lie: at first, I was content. I even posted in the forums that I thought this was ADTR’s best record. Turns out I was on iTunes Shuffle and a song from FTWHH was playing. Oops. My bad.
Seriously dude? Could you be anymore of a douche? I think your on crack with this review and need to stop acting like a know-best, and give this album the respect it deserves. awful review.
